I'll take hilarious Ancient Flare wipes over the long drawn out death during the final boss.

I've got all but Armorsmith (49) and Alchemist (44) at level 50 or above and I'm ready to push for 70 crafters. I have 7 million gil in the bank. What's the next step here? Are there still crafting leves at these levels or is it all collectibles, GC turn-ins and beast tribes at this point?

I'm in no particular hurry, I just want a chance of pace from dungeons and fighting.

If you're not in a hurry, Ixals to get Armorsmith to 50, leves with the cheap potions POTD drops to get Alc to 50 and then Moogle quests, Zhloe + M'naago handins.

You can leve to do it more intensely but they're the best means of getting crafters up passively.

Yeah you can also use a higher level crafter to cheese through beast/orphans for a lower level one so there's benefit in having one way ahead of the others.

Speaking of glamour, with the new system coming out are they removing the arbitrary restriction on coloring items once you convert them to glamour? I always found that annoying.

As far as crafting goes, I'm annoyed that all the DoH/DoL sets are now class-locked. The older DoH sets being all-class opened some really nice glam options, and frankly I wish there was a way to wear class-specific sets as a combat class if you have the relevant DoH/L class leveled. But no, now we have more options locked behind class walls, thanks YoshiP

Current-tier DOH/DOL gear is Ala Mhigan, that is class-agnostic, but requires a WVR specialist to craft.

Unlikely. The ability to dye an item is considered a premium upgrade and used to encourage people to do harder or rare content to get the ability to dye.

It'd be nice if they made some of the older stuff less annoying to upgrade though.

Note that the colour on this is very off so it's only good for seeing models rather than building a set.

With the system they're putting on where you can save appearances and swap to them, you can have a specific colour on each set even if multiples use the set.

So basically, use expensive dyes on the item, put it in the commode and use cheap dyes in the set making thing so your permanent dye is the default and you can terebinth or whatever to undye it temporarily.

Wow, not being able to fly in the humongous new zones is so painful. I forgot what it was like. And half the zones and their aether wind thingies are gated behind story progress.

At least i finally got through to the story part where we attack the bridge castrum, so i can get to the second half of this abanian zone.

I'm mostly doing it passively because that's what I generally have the time for. I have been doing some Zhloe/M'Naago turnins recently too, so that's been helpful and I have one more rep level to go with Moogles. Been maxed on Ixals for awhile, but I don't like them as much.

I'll have to look up those potion leves for ALC. I've been trailing behind on it.

As long as the boost to 60 isn't real dollars (I don't want to level up that much) I fully expect to have to keep working on these once 4.2 comes out.

But if there are other leves to do, I don't mind spending a bit of gil.

I enjoy the zones, it's just a shame that i have to post-pone any real exploration until i powered through the story and the game gives me access to all of it, especially with my DoLs. Not even worth starting to gather anything until i can fly, sadly.

Speaking of story:

Is it just speculation that 4.2 will bring crafter job boosts? When I asked if people thought they would do crafter job boosts a couple months ago, most people seemed to think it would never happen due to that directly affecting server economy. I've been leveling them now and have a few around 50-60, but if they are gonna happen I might just stop leveling the rest and do job boosts for them. I basically just do turn ins and beast tribe quests to level them, but i'd love to stop doing Ixal quests every day if I know job boosts are right around the corner.

There's also going to be probably another tier of gear, as well. If anything, slow level your classes with gc turn ins + moogles + occasional leve + custom deliveries, but I wouldn't sink a bunch of time, effort, and digital money into crafting your own i320 HQ left side gear or buying it off of the MB. The economy is going to have a shake up, but nothing is permanent (see: Flying Chairs go from 8 million -> 400k).
