So, point one: The people in the car that was hit are in uncertain condition, but a witness said one of them seemed to be speaking with police from her stretcher, so that's a decent sign.

Point two: This sovcit guy, who thinks he isn't beholden to law enforcement, stopped at a red light after pulling off the freeway during his police chase. Wonderful.

For Context: Travis Woo was a mid-level magic: the gathering pro who lost his sponsorship's because he for some reason made a youtube video where he talked about how great Mein Kampf was. So he was shunned from the community, then slowly made his way back into the scene, played really well and made it to something called the pro tour, where the parent company Wizards of the Coast pays your airfare and travel expenses.

Right before the last pro tour of the year, Travis Woo got banned again for running a facebook hatespeech/shitposting group. So Wizards reported his travel costs as income and sent him a 1099 (this includes the airfair for the tournament he couldn't attend)

Because as soon as you find out someone in your program is a horrible person committing heinous crimes, it's too late to keep your program from being tarred and feathered over it. How you respond demonstrates where your priorities lie.

You can either come clean immediately, turn in the bad actor, and take the heat (the right and moral solution).
You can cover it up but get said bad actor out of the program as quietly as possible (the evil but not worst solution)

Or you can be like the former MSU president and just cover it up and do nothing about it which just perpetuates (and arguably abets) the crimes. Literally the worst possible option.

The Catholic church has access to places with very, very few children. They probably moved a few of their more horrid people into mid-to-upper administration positions in the Vatican, a country with no natural birth rate. MSU is big, but not that big.

I had a long ranty thing written up about MSU but it boils down to: fire them all, and charge some with crimes. The administration of that school is entirely either criminal (if they covered up for Nasser, or knew about Nasser and were willfully negligent in failing to report his crimes) or incompetent (if they ignored reports and failed to uncover the scandal BEFORE the press did). "Know about scandals before anybody outside the university does" is central to the job description of a university president.

Ferguson should be fired immediately if he seriously believes that Nasser's crimes can be separated from the rest of the university. That's not how the responsibility of administration works - the buck stops at the top, not on the shore of some metaphorical island you imagine your criminal underling inhabits.

Everybody above the level of Department Chair needs to re-apply for their old jobs. Failure to convince an independent board (the current board of the university is too tainted at the moment) that you had zero involvement means you go away.

These people also erroneously conflate their individual legacies with the legacies of the institutions to which they belong.
