Yep - if you ever wanted a Fate show with the look and atmosphere of Madoka, you’ve got it.

My only concern was that the art was unusually wonky for a first episode, which may be a bad sign for later. Whole lot of weirdly scrunched-up, low-detail faces in the mid-distance shots.

So just like Madoka then

Well, kind of, but I don’t remember Dokes getting quite that bad that fast and that often.

Hakumei to Mikochi isn't an action show if that's a requirement but it is a chill fantasy setting with a civilisation of tiny people/talking critters living in a forest. There's a very good scientist/necromancer character and lots of good food

I'm not familiar with Mouse Guard at all but going by these google images, sure. Less fighting off predators, more making jams for your bug neighbours and getting swept up in a lively marketplace and buying too much food

Grancrest is as old-school as you can get in this day and age without rewatching/re-reading stuff like Eternal Filena, Slayers or Arslan. It's written by the same dude who wrote the Record of Lodoss War and Louie the Rune Soldier novels, so if you like anime based on old LN's, it might be up your alley.

Also, the main heroine has a wardrobe that, while no doubt created with fanservice-y ends in mind, it also looks really, really cool. :3:

Hidive is cheaper than all of those at least. it's unofficially Sentai's streaming platform so you'll probably see a few exclusives on there each season since AnimeStrike is dead. there's also weird stuff like them having a different (mostly better) translation of Pop Team Epic compared to CR.

Lodoss was one of my favorites as a kid so I'll definitely check it out!

Grancrest is absurdly fast paced, holy poo poo. We're four episodes in and it feels like we've gone through a whole season. There's big emotional scenes with characters we've spent like six second with. It's loving wild lol.
