Thinking about it, it's probably just as bad if the guns are dudes since you have to hold the grip real tight while you make them shoot.

i can't speak for upotte specifically but most of the military->moe series/franchises out there are largely inoffensive. watching shows like girls und panzer and strike witches where representative girls from various nations form empathetic bonds with each other, is less insidious than a lot of western war movies where they show axis troops as unfeeling jarheads. even like, the abyssal enemies in kancolle only seem like stock enemies on the surface until they're revealed to be essentially specters tied to the mortal plane by the anguish of how terrible ww2 was. and strike witches season 1 ends with a plot arc where one of the faceless machine aliens goes rogue and tries to learn about humans. it takes a humanoid form and meets the series heroine and tries to imitate her and they end up dancing in the sky; it's an emotionally moving scene. they become friends and alien ends up sacrificing itself to save her, ending a cliche plotline that never gets brought up again in the tv show. I liked it. the best military stories are the ones that make you not want to pick up a gun and shoot another person, imo, and I think stuff like this qualifies

Especially since many have hair triggers and there's no bulletproof vest that can stop a really determined coed! He'll have to rewrite the operator's manual on student/teacher relationships, and pray that his job description won't include having to field strip and reassemble one of his cadets in the dark. But unfortunately (for him) FNC's already thinking about becoming HIS personal weapon, and she usually gets what she aims for! ...hm. this just sounds like a porno, going off the MAL summary

The main heroine, an energetic girl, who is a Belgian FN FNC and is often displeased to be nicknamed Funco (even in class register). Her real name is Efensee and she is the younger sister of Fal. As the real FNC has a skeleton stock, she wears a thong instead of panties, much to her embarrassment and occasional anger. Ever since their first meeting, she has displayed an affection towards her homeroom teacher, though the feelings are one-sided.

The OP of its original thread was written before the show started and actually turned some people off of the anime which is why it eventually got a new thread with a more accurate OP. Mentioning GuP and stroke witches in the same breath is really weird though.

Tachibana does an extremely good excited dance in the new After the Rain episode, and is real fierce towards her scumbag co-worker so that's good too  Also, more cute dork-ery       I don't remember much after this point in the manga so I'm looking forward to seeing how things progress from here again, both Kondo's thoughts and Tachibana's farewell at the end of the date were quite lovely and bittersweet

For real though in case anybody is actually leery of Koi it's real strength to me is that it takes a concept a lot of series have taken as straight romances and instead turns it into a way more grounded coming of age tale. The man is a really good hearted dude dealing with his own bad divorce and treats a schoolgirl crush like a schoolgirl crush but also genuinely enjoys spending time with Tachibana so they develop a friendship instead. It's more messy and complex than that in the same way that life is more messy and complex but its good and not some trash thing that should be reviled.
