The best part of Ready Player 1 is when the main character challenges a love interest to prove she is a "human  who has never had a sex change operation" and even demands an answer when she doesn't immediately answer him. This is treated as a perfectly rational question by the book and the narrative never addresses why it was so important to him.

That sort of implies he asks every woman he is interested in if she was born with a penis. Which is weird. And then he doesn't just ask "are you trans?" He asks if she can prove she's never had a sex change. What? I was born with a vagina, but if a dude asked me to prove that I was born with a vagina I would not consider dating that dude, because that's weird.
