Was a very bad idea, got to episode 6 at midnight and decided I had to continue watching till the end. By the time the finale rolled around I was dozing off and sort of vaguely grasping plot points, and was still hooked. Had to rewatch the last two episodes again and they were still great even knowing the twists.

Westworld is really good. My favorite thing about it is that HBO did it with no real intentions of doing a second season, despite knowing that their game of thrones gravytrain was ending, and then it tested off the charts and they were like whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Speaking of Game of Thrones, lol at the last books ever being released. Winds of Winter is currently at the end of the longest wait after the previous book, with something around seven years, and it's not even going to be released in 2018, so it'll be close to 8 years "in the making" before hitting the shelves. And it's not even the last book in the series. Whatever that last book was called, GRRM hasn't even started it.

True Detective was a very good case of a creator not realizing what made his product appealing. What people want: A high budget buddy cop show with top-tier acting talent, with occasional tits. What people got in S2: An overly complex bullshit show with no chemistry/interactions between the major characters, with no tits.

what are your favorite Hardcore History episodes? or really anything else in that realm. Pretty open in that I just simply love history, period, and good story telling. I’m just now getting into podcast for long commutes, I know I’m late Halfway through the fall of the Roman Republic right now and the parallels are uncanny. Good stuff

game of thrones is fantasyland OG dynasty tv series without tv censor restraint and full nudity. depending on what you like in that series its either deep awesomeness or trash fiction. Despite not being a grrm fan, i admit he's not afraid to kill off characters/change things up in his stuff, and doesn't give a gently caress about anything in real life except for pizza & yachting hats, which is also nihilisticly cool.

Snatch was good but nowhere near as good as Layercake imo. Layercake was way more darker and gritty, more crime. Snatch was light hearted where Layercake is dark. I liked snatch I just love Layercake. I like dark stuff. Also from a story telling point of view, Layercake did it for me. Color psychology was on point too.

re: altered carbon The acting from every corner is hammier than a Cuban sandwich. I could forgive all the exposition if most of it weren't redundant. The actual plot is a locked-room murder mystery that I guarantee is not going to stand being stretched to ten hours. ~my envoy intuition~ The writing, 'tis poo poo. The philosophy and "social commentary" is strangely corralled. There was some guff about eating the rich, but the ubiquitous pornographic advertising goes basically unexamined, every physical female body gets leered at, and the only people who believe in the soul are apparently juggalos and mocked as such. Watched ep 1 and didn't find a reason to keep going
