The article says they are developing their own trilogy, independent of RJ's trilogy and independent of the main series. LOL.

Doesn't sound like Episodes X-XII are happening anytime soon, given that both the Johnson films and the Benioff/Weiss films are billed as separate series. That's probably a good thing.

Also, Confederate is probably dead, so that's another upside.

I would've been a lot more excited 15 years ago when my life revolved around Star Wars and I consumed every novel, comic book and video game indiscriminately. As it is, I'm merely indifferent. I'll go and see them and provided I am entertained I will be content.

You don’t need R to slice and maim with a light saber. Especially if it’s an alien.

Used to watch several films a week, but now I've got a three-year-old. Haven't had the opportunity to go to the cinema since before he was born (and have been living in non-English speaking countries for over a year anyway), and I don't even have two free hours in the evening to watch a full DVD. The last new thing I saw was the second Jack Reacher movie.

Yeah, woe is me. But on the plus side when I finally do get time to catch up I can cherry-pick the absolute best stuff of the last several years.

Why? The prequels were bad films made by a guy who didn't know what he was doing.

These Disney films are overproduced garbage that is market researched for the lowest common denominator of the masses out there, because that is the Mouse Corporation's business model.

Star Wars should have been left alone after ROTJ IMHO.

LOL if you think they can't just do both.

Also with the dudes from GoT behind a new Wars trilogy, I'm hoping all the characters they develop will eventually just get unceremoniously killed off.

I'm glad the Game of Thrones guys took over Star Wars after they ran out of books to lift scenes from and everyone got pissed at the two for how bad their actually original material is. Kathleen Kennedy, you have truly accomplished something great, and that is making Star Wars a bland, unimaginative, and utterly exhausting property within a smattering of a few years under your guidance.

So they're going to be releasing multiple trilogies concurrently, countless anthology films, and multiple Star Wars TV series on their subscription streaming service?

Maybe they'll let those two clowns remake the prequels and we can finally get the murder of the younglings onscreen the way it always should have been filmed: without any cutting away, perhaps with some sexual violence, definitely with lovingly gratuitous slow-motion child-murder, and soundtracked by The National.
