I'll be your friend. We can drink beer, go to DSA events, and then drink more beer.

Actually, I'm not sure if I can go to DSA events. The general meetings/orientations are all held on Sunday afternoons and I work Sunday afternoons. Would it be rude to show up to an evening event having never been to one of these socialists 101 meetings?

Nope, come on through and talk to people! Also- there is a lot of involvement that can be had without having to go to the generals- almost all the working groups have separate meetings at various points throughout the week. If you're interested in getting involved I wouldn't let not being able to attend the generals stop you.

Seattle isn't Portland but making all your friends in college then slowly losing them to attrition while making no new ones in years has been a winning strategy so far

Hell yeah this is extremely my poo poo.

Fortunately, the ones that are still here are all married now so we added new friends by default.

A shitty post? This calls for a dance of deduction.
Since you all have such a hard time making friends, why don't you guys in this thread just get together and do something with one another and make friends with each other IRL?

Odd that they don’t consider the Bellingham Airport, considering that they have flights and Paine Field doesn’t yet, but that’s a really minor nitpick. I think the idea is great.

It would also be really easy to expand this to Idaho as well.

Seems like a good idea to me. Whether there's even better transit ideas that cost the same or less money is something I dunno about but if this was a ballot initiative in November I'd vote for it.

A few years ago, some activists thought to start a group to urge aggressive expansion of the Seattle-area transit system. And guess what…it worked!

so they asked for expansion and are claiming at least partial responsibility for that project. Does anyone know what they do besides asking for poo poo? Do they actually help with fund-raising, vote getting, professional lobbying?

If they are referring to Sound Transit Light Rail, that has been going on for over 20 years now. I doubt they had much to do with it. Washington government goes very slowly.

Public transit is hostile to the oil industry, this is obviously the right direction to be moving this country. Lets get back to a time where the poors knew their place. Uppity poors complaining about upward mobility? How about we show them what a lack of mobility really looks like!

there actually used to be a commuter run from stanwood, but not enough peope used it so they canceled.

I'm baffled that anyone else on this board lives even remotely close to Stanwood.

Things to do:

stare at defunct bar buildings
try to browbeat your friends into driving for an hour for a change
wish you had the exciting nightlife of cosmopolitan metropolis Mt. Vernon

Having a stop here in the Tri is a no brainer.

Speaking of the Tri, we are really getting good at throwing housing developments literally everywhere. I swear I see new ones popping up daily. But at least we have a Panera now! Yay!
