When I went to see if LOD was even a game. (It's not. It's vaporware). I saw they actually have a LOD comic. 3 episodes long. And it's utter poo poo. Like seriously bad. Worse than the games.

D_Smart posted:Sure. Read all three tabs (About/Key Features/Player Guide) Thank you, I think I've got most of it now. The goal in Line of Defense is to defeat the opposing team by capturing all the important buildings (which each provide a bonus to the team that controls it) in the play area. The challenge is in preventing the opposing team from capturing those buildings. The players overcome this challenge by teamwork, combat skill in both FPS and a variety of vehicles, and managing the bonuses of owned buildings to maximum effect. A team wins by... capturing the important buildings, progressively rendering the opposing team weaker, and ultimately, rendering the opposing team unable to spawn any units?

Have you ever done a quick back of the envelope calculation to figure out the fuel consumption of a tank column? Have you ever had to reduce energy allocations to HET your way out of a hellbore attack? Have you ever hankered after a game where you could be seriously in the poo poo but limp your rear end back to base? Thanks; I understand better now. At a glance to me it all looked like super complicated RTS stuff kind of.

Jobbo_Fett posted:Does anyone know if RSI/CIG/insertothercompanynamehere is going to E3 this year if they are skipping Gamescom. Hard to believe that the best game in the universe would miss such press events I am confident at this point that Star Citizen will never again be shown at shows or conventions where other games are being demonstrated. It's too easy at that point to directly compare SC to actual games and it's bad optics when the booth for a 180 million dollar game barely sees any traffic.

Preen Dog posted:Thank you, I think I've got most of it now. Yes, pretty much. But it also has World Events which are mission based http://lodgame.com/faqs/world-events/ And it's not session based. So nothing "resets". It's just one long battle that goes on forever. At least until the server croaks and restarts. And it's not hosted in the cloud either because AWS instances are super expensive. That's why the suite of network services, dubbed Wide Span Global, were designed like this. quote:The game’s hybrid tech supports both dedicated server as well as peer-to-peer (client hosts and plays) session hosting for PC and consoles. It supports a large number of players in a persistent, non-sharded, non-instanced, game world. Our Wide Span Global (WSG) network technology supports various networking and game hosting configurations. ---------------- D_Smart fucked around with this message at 20:59 on Feb 13, 2018 |

Round Like a circle in a spiral Like a wheel within a wheel Never ending or beginning On an ever-spinning reel Like a snowball down a mountain Or a carnival balloon Like a carousel that's turning Running rings around the moon Like a clock whose hands are sweeping Past the minutes of its face And the world is like an apple Whirling silently in space Like the circles that you find In the windmills of your mind
