[ASK] me about OS/2 Warp

nice

now that my wife and I have licenses we need some ham gear, I expect we’ll need to see how that stuff runs under wine or whatever

or I’ll have to do some reverse engineering of serial protocols, maybe I should pick up an adorable serial protocol analyzer after all

honestly tons of stuff runs fine under wine. i use playonmac (wine + os x lipstick) to run so many dorky ham programs

for the rest, just get a raspberry pi and put debian on it. it'll run fldigi, wsjtx, whatever you want.

actually they’re great.

the other day i had to troubleshoot this known issue where a screw in the interior trim contacts the positive lead of the cigarette lighter / power plug, and causes the fuse to blow.

this is such a common thing that there are multiple threads about it on the lotustalk forum.

that black bin thing behind the parking break. it is a little bin that everyone calls the cup holder but it is not actually big enough to fit any cups i have ever used. they COULD have made it a cupholder, there is room, they just said gently caress your cups and made it too small.

there is a screw in the bottom of the bin that holds it in. here they have removed the screw and the black part of the bin is popped out a bit and the grey part is popped off from the center console

well that little black knobby there with the bit of green around it is the 12v power plug. the screw in the bottom of the bin can easily go down into the plug that hooks up the 12v socket (the white thing with the wires on it there is the plug that plugs into the back of the 12v socket to power it).

this happens ALL THE TIME when people try to take out the center console with the parking break and shifter in it. the solution is to go to home depot and get a screw that’s not 1.5 inches long for no reason like the one lotus used. a 1/2 inch screw will hold the bin in place no problem, the extra inch exists only to short out the 12v lighter plug, as far as i can tell.

not sure what you're thinking of

quote:

As of May 2017, Tesla has issued two product safety recalls for the Roadster.[170]

In May 2009, Tesla issued a recall for 345 Roadsters manufactured before April 22, 2009. Tesla sent technicians to customers' homes to tighten the rear, inner hub flange bolts. Using wording from the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration, Tesla told customers that without this adjustment, the driver could lose control of the car.[171] The problem originated at the Lotus assembly line, where the Roadster glider was built. Lotus also recalled some Elise and Exige vehicles for the same reason.[172]

On October 1, 2010, Tesla issued a second product safety recall in the US affecting 439 Roadsters. The recall involved the 12V low-voltage auxiliary cable from a redundant back-up system. The recall followed an incident where the low voltage auxiliary cable in a vehicle chafed against the edge of a carbon fiber panel, causing a short, smoke and a possible fire behind the right front headlamp. This issue was limited to the 12V low-voltage auxiliary cable and did not involve the main battery pack or main power system.[173]

People have mixed emotions regarding the passing of the paid sick leave ordinance on Friday morning.

Proponents of the ordinance said it protects people from having to choose between work and taking care of their health.

Many small business owners are worried that, with the ordinance in place, they won't be able to stay afloat.

Peter Morales owns a lot of small businesses in the Austin area.

He was helping out at Las Quesadillas on Saturday afternoon.

Morales said he already offers his workers paid sick leave.

“Whenever somebody calls in sick, we tell them to take the day off,” Morales said, explaining that, in the restaurant business, you can’t afford to have sick people working.

He said he thinks the ordinance is a good idea, but he believes the city needs to consider the impact on small businesses.

“I know that because we own different companies, so we support some of our businesses sometimes when times are not good,” Morales explained. “And for a business owner, if this were my only business, it would definitely hurt me.”

Morales spoke to some colleagues and explained some are thinking about moving their businesses away from Austin.

“I have several friends in the construction industry, several companies, that are specifically saying they are going to move outside the city limits,” Morales said.

in the restaurant business we can't afford to have sick people working, but apparently in the construction business it's fine to have someone running a front loader in between throwing up with a 104 fever

Is "think about the small business" the "think of the children" but for economical policies? What is funny is that I live in a socialist hellhole with universal healthcare, paid sick leave, minimum wage law that also applies to waitstaff, etc, but basically every economic policy that isn't "cut all taxes all the time" is always countered with this.

don't let the door hit you on the way out of austin!

or do, i don't really care.

the funniest part to me is this:

"I shop locally, I spend my money locally,” Morales said. “So any profits we make on our small business, we help turn the economy in Austin.”

he thinks that if he spends a little less the economy will feel it, as if the people he pays when they are sick are just going to hoard the money and not buy groceries.

he doesn't even have to be making himself look like such a shitheel like this, he could just wait until the next texas lege session when they'll surely make the austin law illegal just out of spite like they always do.

pretty much, except to be really equivalent you'd have to adopt some crazy definition for "child" that includes people that are in no way children.

there are quite a few billion-dollar "small businesses".

it's pretty simple. every law that favors owners over employees is good for for small business and good for jobs. every tax cut is good for middle-class families and will stimulate the economy
