They never even offered me a bribe before I left island. I almost feel insulted. There’s plenty more that’s a matter of public record that this reporter didn’t get to: I suggest looking up the Lady Diann Torres Foundation, then requesting its Form 990. Or perusing the campaign statements of account for 2016: if nothing else, you’ll see guys spending a hilarious amount of money buying beer at AAFES.

Mr. Nice! posted:Yeah courts don't gently caress around because ship owners are a bunch of shady motherfuckers and bury that poo poo in a million god damned different shell companies. Literally seize the poo poo, put out a notice that says "if you want a piece of it come and get it" and sell the motherfucker if the owner decides it's not worth it to deal with the hassle. Admiralty law was a fun class mainly because I had to deal with tracking all of these million of panama flagged oil tankers off the coast of iraq for months years before. It's one of the few places where the courts really can flex some muscle because seaman are considered wards of the federal court. Okay, so you call ship arrests a type of asset seizure. Good to know. I loving wish Russian courts would ever impose arrests. They barely ever do. And when they do, it's usually for state-owned companies. Figures

The previous casino in the CNMI drew the largest fine in FinCen history: $75 million. The staff walked the undercover FBI agent through the process of laundering money.

How long are the hearings in the US? We have a big one coming up here that's scheduled for 6 days before the law society benches and the biggest I've seen in the last 3 years was a 3 day hearing. I figure it has to do with the fact they tried to make him use a breathalyzer every morning before work that makes this one special.

All the children [of my sister] are degree holders…. To have one lawyer in the family is a [sign of] success, but to have four lawyers and one governor, is a miracle, a blessing. A clear indication of what hard work can do for a family if you strive. This family worked hard, [they] went to school and were successful in their own right. They did not get their success from IPI. [And] these commissioners are hard-working people and it’s not right that they be maligned by a fly-by-night ‘expert’ who came here for three days and aligned himself with the…critics of the [casino] industry.” lmao

I had a depo this week where I got the witness/alleged victim to yell at me, "I know what you're trying to do, you're trying to say there's doubt! Well guess what, there's doubt!" I didn't ask him if he thought there was reasonable doubt.

I'm in a big rut y'all. I've lost a few major hearings recently, and I don't have any case work I'm excited about at present. I have no trials set for this entire year now. I can second or third some stuff, but that's usually not very exciting. I've also injured my good knee (I had a ligament replacement in May that got infected but is mostly all better now). So I'm mostly sedentary. Can't even handle the grocery store right now. I also have no travel for a bit. So I'm in my office all day every day for months. To top it off I bombed a CLE presentation that kind of embarrassed me. Thoughts on how to pull out of this? I already see a therapist and take anti depressants.
