I have been all over Akkala. I climbed that whore and two bastards of a tower atop the citadel, went up and down the map, and spent at least three hours exploring between four or five different points of interest all across the region, and now three completed shrines, two Korok seeds, and one recovered memory later, I STILL can’t loving find that loving rear end in a top hat Robbie. WHERE? THE gently caress? IS ROBBIE?

I swear I’m enjoying this game and having fun with the exploring, but my loving head is killing me and I just want to know where this shithead is so I can move on already.

Hint level 1: A road leads to it.
Hint level 2: There are two stables in Akkala, South Akkala Stable and East Akkala Stable. NPCs at East Akkala Stable will talk about it.
The answer: It's in the extreme northeast.

Nonsense. I have not yet begun to defile myself.

In a funny example of this game's non-linearity screwing with me, it took me awhile to realize I could even go get the Master Sword early (or attempt it anyway) since my first time at the Lost Woods I got bounced back and determined "Okay this must be gated off until I go do other stuff"

Yeah it seemed that way.

I WAS gonna get the Master Sword before starting the Vah Rudania dungeon, but apparently I have to have 13 heart containers to get that, which I only have 10. There’s supposedly a statue in Hateno Village that’ll convert stamina extenders to heart containers and vice versa, but I only have two stamina extensions. Also I don’t know where the statue is... turns out GameFAQs is kind of a lovely resource for answering certain BotW questions (or at least not a very straightforward one... I like to be able to look stuff up real quick, but the FAQs I saw there don’t make it easy).

The Master Sword isn't worth getting as early as possible. It's fairly mediocre if you're not fighting Guardians with it. You're better off coming back for it when you have enough containers. I feel like trading stamina for hearts just to get the Master Sword is a waste of time. I've found two-handed weapons are more powerful in most cases. I mostly use the Master Sword to break ore and cut down trees out of laziness and to avoid damaging good fighting weapons.

I'm going to echo the previous sentiments. If you're looking up answers to everything, you might be better off trading BotW in at Gamestop and getting a different game. You've spoiled lots of the game for yourself by using Gamefaqs - unless there's some joy you're getting out of looking up where everything is.

I had no idea how many heart containers it took to get the Master Sword. I tried pulling it out when I found it and I think it killed me. I got a bunch more hearts, tried again and failed again. Came back after a great long while and pulled it out. That third time I went, I was fairly certain it would work, but not 100%. That's how it's supposed to be. You're not supposed to *know* when you're ready. You should *feel* it.

Fast travel and mostly punishless deaths makes it easy to experiment and discover things without wasting too much time. I've rarely gotten sent back more than a minute or two from an accidental death. I've died SO MANY TIMES.

Go experiment. I rarely post on here, but man, you're bumming me out. This is quite possibly one of the greatest video gaming experiences ever created and you're coming at it with the wrong mindset.

EDIT:

If you *really* want to speed through the game without exploring:
The second your shrine sensor goes off, just pull up a map on Gamefaqs so you don't have to wander around looking for the shrine you're near
Look up solutions to shrines as soon as you enter. Just Google the title of the shrine.
Look up recipes for cooking
As soon as you get a quest, look up the solution so you can finish the quest you just got as quickly as possible.
Find out what powers each Divine Beast offers, look up where they are online and do them in that exact order prescribed for maximum utility.
When you get to Eventide, it's really hard, so just look up exactly how to finish it without dying.
When you get to a boss battle, don't leave anything to chance. Make sure you know exactly the boss's weakness so you can exploit it instantly for a quick kill.
If you want to grind Spirit Orbs, Shrine quest solutions are easily Googleable
You shouldn't just magically happen upon Kilton or those crazy dragons, just look up exactly where and when they appear.

Let me know if you need any other pointers!

I started a second play through immediately after beating the game just to change the order I got stuff and it's a wildly different experience just by doing that.

One thing I do miss is the sheer terror of coming across Guardians. Now knowing they are largely chumps kinda ruins a small part of the extended experience. I wish they had an attack routine that varied like Lynels or something.

Man, I'm really glad I went in mostly blind when I first played BotW on Wii U around launch. I got distracted by other stuff after finishing my first Divine Beast and didn't play the game again until I got a Switch this year, and while I'm still doing things blind for the most part I obviously know a lot more about the game than I did a year ago.

I remember heading to the Faron area really early on the Wii U, getting the idea that I probably shouldn't be here but gently caress it, I am here so let's see what I can find. Then, as I was exploring, Farosh suddenly emerged from the pond next to me and blasted lightning all over the place. :stonkhat: Obviously I know now that the dragons are pretty chill and mostly there for a couple of shrine quests and item farming, but at that point I had no idea there even were dragons in the game and I'm pretty sure I actually yelled "HOLY loving poo poo" at the TV.

That bit of exploring eventually ended when I got struck by lightning, because it was the first thunderstorm I had seen in the game and didn't realize I maybe shouldn't be carrying all this metal crap around in such weather.
