my friend bought pd2 and can't get it to launch to the point where it even produces a crash log. i'm loving dumb as rocks when it comes to troubleshooting this garbage. their computer should be able to run it i think, albeit not greatly. they have a Intel core 2 duo CPU 2.20GHz T6600, geforce 9300m gs, 4gb ram, 64bit windows vista, and 88gb of hdd space free after the install. how do we make this potentially not happen. they already tried verifying game files and nothing

This game has pretty low requirements, but that 9300m might not cut it. Fake edit: checked out the 9300m, max of 256MB of video RAM, PD2 needs 512MB minimum.

Xbox 1 was surprisingly updated today. From what I've followed in this thread in the past it's the "Carshop update" and some other general stuff too if that gives you an idea where we are at. Catching up. Fov slider was added in the options- it is buried in there. Haven't hosed with it yet and probably won't.

Presumably the current ones will be One Down mutator achievements. And the new ones will just be for the highest difficulty without that.

LORD OF BOOTY posted:I haven't played the beta, but it seems like they've hit the things that pissed me off the most about PD2 when I last dug into it (guns felt like peashooters without minmaxing, bad AI, One Down being the worst difficulty level of all time) The changelog isn't documenting some more "fun" that's been added. When I posted about them, Jules acknowledged that he's intentionally not reporting changes to the game because he doesn't want feedback on them. In a beta. As you will see, these are not small changes. Undocumented changes from the Difficulty Beta 1. Minigun dozers have no separate spawncap, so on any moderately long heist you wind up with a full set of minigun dozers. Any given dozerspawn has about a 4% chance to be a pair of minigun dozers. 2. Movement speed has doubled for most enemies on OD. 3. A type of scripted spawn, the "reinforce task" group that's designed to perform a bunch of functions on different maps, was hacked out of the spawntables. 4. The total number of enemies was increased again. OD now has 108 enemies with 4 players, although what sometimes happens is the game glitches out and spawns much fewer, or, apparently, occasionally much more. Coupled with the change to the task/framerate issue, and it's a horrifying clusterfuck on any map that puts all enemy spawnpoints in the same area. it's an additional 20-30 enemies for a player with bots or a full team, an additional 6 if you're solo. 5. Something's wrong with enemy hitboxes when crouched- their torso hitbox now covers the bottom half of their head. This makes heavy SWAT....fun. 6. Minigun bulldozers have their health doubled. This is on top of all bulldozers having their health doubled. Minigun dozers now have 48,000 health. This is more than anything but a SWAT turret, including all bosses. The task-framerate change and the health nerf were absolutely good changes, and the idea of qualitative changes on the top difficulties is great. It's just that Jules doubled down on some of the worst problems at the same time. Discendo Vox fucked around with this message at 20:47 on Mar 1, 2018 |

RandallODim posted:what do you mean a squad of lumbering tanks dozer-sprinting across the map to gently caress your face with bullets isn't fun? Oh, minidozers can't sprint (ha, they never bothered to write them up!). But they also don't have damage falloff. They do 120 at all ranges. Now, close your eyes. Visualize the control room on alesso. Imagine the elevator shaft. See a Minigun dozer spawning right next to you. Imagine two of them. ...Now imagine Brooklyn 10-10.

EorayMel posted:Can I imagine Goat Sim instead? You sure can, because the enemy weaponstats on OD are unchanged- it's still a festival of no-falloff massive damage that completely breaks the design of any map with open spaces. fwiw the devs are kinda stuck, in that a portion of the userbase will take any enemy health or damage reduction as some sort of moral compromise of One Down's "pure" difficulty. That's why there's a paragraph in the changelog about not making OD easier. OD is absolutely easier, because it's a lot less restrictive on player weapons. Going full auto in a dozer's face with a DMR is going to be less effective due to multiple factors.
