In the Snopes "debunk" they just point out "hey it specifically calls itself a satire site", which Snopes did because idiots on Twitter were taking some of the articles as actual fact. According to Breitbart (fwiw), apparently Facebook then sent the Babylon Bee's FB page admin a message saying that their article CNN Purchases Industrial-Sized Washing Machine to Spin News Before Publication had been debunked on Snopes, and that they should be aware that posting fake news could get their distribution reduced and monetization ganked (no actual threat of shutting their page down). Assuming Breitbart is right, I can *sliiiiiightly* see some concern, but I can't imagine it couldn't be dealt with by contacting the staff and saying "yo, we're a satire site, says so right on every page." And it's entirely possible it was a totally automated process where a link being on Snopes triggers a "knockitoff" warning, or at the very most some bottom-level hourly FB contractor clicking through dozens of pages an hour just hit the "maybe fake news" button to send an automated message. But to hear Freep and Breitbart describe it, Zuck himself is out for blood from the 'Bee for daring to criticize CNN. As soon as they got to "two dead, appears to be a domestic" that would be a good time to taper off the drama. I'd imagine not a day goes by in a country of 300,000,000 where nobody gets killed in a domestic dispute. But on my drive home tonight NPR was still providing updates on how they're still tracking the guy down and anyone who sees him should call 911, which is great except it's NPR for my local state which is nowhere remotely near Detroit so I don't know how that's really helping the listener other than keeping the suspense up.
