There's a rumour the Rams are still interested in keeping him, I would be fine with it if they can get him long-term in the 12-14m year range rather than the 17-18m he'll command in free agency.

Apparently they want to re-sign Joyner first and probably can't keep him and Tru at the same time

They could keep Joyner/Trumaine conceivably if they sign for last years market value rather than this years. Think like Stephen Gilmore's ~13m/year and Tony Jefferson's ~9m/year. I think in addition to that they will dump Tavon Austin and Mark Barron and restructure/extend Robert Quinn so they can go after some cheaper free agency guys to fill gaps like Weston Richburg at Center from the Giants and Todd Davis at MLB from the Broncos. I thought this offseason was going to be hosed even though they have 40m in cap space, but the Marcus Peters trade was a godsend.

I've said it before but the Seahawks don't have a second- or third-round pick this year, and John Schneider's draft pick fetish is well-documented. I'll be stunned if he stays pat at 18, especially if the QBs fall.

The only person who cares about Russell Wilson playing spring training is Russell Wilson. Drew Margary's take on it is the best:

quote:

It’s just a stunt. Baseball teams do it all the times. Garth Brooks got at-bats in Spring Training, for crying out loud. Spring Training is when Major League teams embrace the minor league spirit and cook up any sales gimmick they can to get you to come out to some meaningless split squad game being played in Tampa’s rear end in a top hat. I don’t have much of a problem with it. There are plenty of fungo balls to go around for everyone, and I get kick out of the fact that Russell Wilson is probably the ONLY person there who takes the idea of Russell Wilson playing baseball seriously.

Other leagues could do this. We all hate preseason NFL games. Ah, but what if I told you that Channing Tatum was going to play an entire fourth quarter at QB for the Panthers in one? No? No, I guess that would probably suck. Still, WHO SAYS NO?

Unironically wanna see Channing Tatum play QB and The Rock get some reps in at linemen in the preseason.

Trade rumors about Bennett

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/22648026/atlanta-falcons-talking-seattle-seahawks-michael-bennett-trade

It's weird because he's getting older, but he's still an above average pass rusher and his contract isn't crazy expensive. I'm happy if we keep him and will be fine if a trade gets us a 4th rounder. Current DL has some decent young talent. Draft a pass rush specialist in the mid rounds this year and it should be okay.

This makes me legit sad, although not unexpected. I actually really liked the guy and thought his drop in production between what he did in New Orleans and here could be placed squarely on the piss poor offensive line play. TEs run timing routes and are open for very specific windows, which were often disrupted by pressure on RW. Oh well, Luke Willson is cool too.

To me Graham seemed quite a bit stiffer and a decent amount slower than he used to be as well.

I know you love to Kramer into a thread when "Jimmy Graham underutilized in Seattle" is mentioned, and while an extent of that is true, a lot of last year's lovely numbers were on Jimmy himself for bad drops and overall lack of effort.

He had a bad case of the dropsies, but he was a poor fit for Seattle’s offense from the jump, and I imagine that played a role in his lack of effort at the end. Seattle needed blocking tight end that could act as a safety valve in the passing game, they got s really tall wide receiver that came from a very different offense and wasn’t comfortable in the more...improvisational...style of receiver play required to be successful in Seattle.
