Looking at the angle here i'd expect to be able to see the entry point in front of the seat Edit: Sorry everyone didn't realise that was all images in one. Edit2: Also the cushioning ejected from the seat seems to suggest the rebar penetrated from behind. Edit3: But the way the jacket is pinned up at the back means the rebar must have penetrated from the front. I'm stumped here guys. Pissflaps fucked around with this message at 22:26 on Mar 24, 2018 |

I think it came up under the seat.

It's just what it looks like -- the rebar was lying in the road, maybe sticking up a bit, and when the car drove over it, it pierced the thin sheet metal under the car and came up under/through the seat. The car's inertia kept it coasting forwards until the rebar was rammed ten feet out the back window.

I figure that if someone had gotten impaled they would've had to cut the rebar to get them out so apparently somehow nobody got hurt in that

Something similar happened to a train I was on. Someone had put a piece of metal on the tracks the wheels hit it and launched it into the underside of the carriage. Luckily no one was sitting in the seat it destroyed but it made one hell of a racket while it was happening.

Luckily no one was sitting in the seat it destroyed but it made one hell of a racket while it was happening. Thats basically what caused the derailment at echede. Only that the piece of metal that went through the floor was part of one of the wheels. And that it scooped up a piece of (guidance?) rail, causing the derailment.

We didn’t come off the track but sat there for a while so they could assess damage before crawling to the first station where they could park the train for towing to the workshop. It would have been impossible for the train to miss it cause the section of track is blind corners in massive cuttings. Same section of track has seen a couple of big derailments/ crashes and people hit. Edit: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glenbrook_rail_accident this was the most recent one that happened. Similar area but otherside of the station.

You need to use a much smaller crocodile to undo the bolts on a flange that size. Caiman would do the job, otherwise you’re just going to round those hex bolts. Caiman? Look at this idiot. Doesn't even know in the real world you have to use a Gharial to remove these bolts with proper torque distribution on the heads.

We were attempting to do what is called a double tap. It is where you fill one ladle (what holds the molten iron) and then that crew will move and a second ladle will be filled. There was a miss communication between the two pour crews and the result was some fireworks. No one was seriously injured. One person had some burns, but nothing serious enough to go to the er
