Brutalism only works when it's built to be integrated in a natural environment. In more urban settings it just looks incredibly drab, and that's when the building is new and isn't covered in nasty stains (see that photo of the Fashion Institute of Technology).

I love the fight meme but feel like the chair throw panel should be the older guy speaking. It looks like he's throwing the chair and yelling. Have not seen source material so it may not be. Or is he throwing the chair in response to the dumb younger guy. Hmm. Thought provoking meme. But yes also agree w him. Great meme 10/10

Brutalist buildings are hideous and everyone that argues otherwise is a blowhard with no sense or taste.

Super Size Me wasn't a very scientifically sound or in any way interesting movie, but I like that it gets blowback ten years after the fact, which tries to argue that you can have a healthy diet of nothing but McDonald's food. What a time to be alive.

My favorite part of UIC, besides the behavioral psych building, which was intentionally conceived to disorient and distress students and faculty, was how the main admin building was constructed with arrowslit style windows, in order to safeguard employees in case of riot. E: I'd say Brutalism is cool and novel until you spend a few years surrounded by it and living in it, at which point you start wondering what if would feel like if you slammed against it at a terminal velocity and if anyone would even notice, or if you would just eventually turn into a fudgey human shaped stain. mysterious frankie has a new favorite as of 17:47 on Apr 3, 2018 |

Brutalism is cool. Barbican Estate in London is an extremely dope place to visit. It was built as a kind of urban utopian experiment in social housing.

I drink it all anyway because I'm an idiot who just eats and drinks what's given to him, but it can still be off-putting at some places. e: It also varies from place to place. A medium at Popeyes is a small at Taco Bell.
