I saw a Lowtax meme on Facebook. It had nothing to do with SA, and I’m fairly sure the kid who posted it has no idea what SA is. It was a military-themed joke that a midwestern aunt would share between Minions image macros.

Is describing a meme but not showing the meme a meme now?

it's absolutely true that buildings are sometimes designed with draconian antisocial features -- anti-homeless spikes, limited private space, minimal opportunities for groups to gather, and so on. but i think that specifically designing a building to make its occupants uncomfortable -- that's too ridiculous to bear scrutiny. what's the value?

however, it is a perfect story to tell impressionable young college students who are already a bit intimidated about the institution and maybe feel like they're in prison.

my undergrad university's urban legend was that one of the residence halls was built my an architect who'd only ever designed prisons (false), so it feels like a prison inside (it's a regular res hall), and it had made so many students so agonized that they'd jumped out of the highest windows (also false), which is why the windows were bolted shut (the actual reason had to do with air pressure in the HVAC system).

I saw a meme recently that I thought was pretty funny. It was a comic strip. In the first panel, a man burst into a hospital through a set of double doors labeled “EMERGENCY.” In the second panel, he had run up to a doctor and was frantically speaking to him. The dialogue was not provided, but I believe he was asking for directions. In the third panel (below the first) he was standing in front of a receptionist’s desk. The receptionist was pointing down a hallway. Finally, in the fourth panel, the man was standing over a woman lying in a hospital bed. The man looked very distraught, and the woman was clutching her stomach and crying.

I don’t remember what it was called.

There was a meme I saw years ago, where there was a face (I don't remember if it was a person or an animal) on a background of some colors in a radial pattern, and a few lines of text in white Impact font. Does anyone remember that one? It was a great one.

This is still a lesson I haven't quite learned, as I order a medium expecting an old medium, and keep getting way more than I actually wanted. I drink it all anyway because I'm an idiot who just eats and drinks what's given to him, but it can still be off-putting at some places.

e: It also varies from place to place. A medium at Popeyes is a small at Taco Bell.

this is also a thing. mcdonalds bore the brunt of the supersize me back lash but a large at arbies is like to much loving soda / fries. a medium at some places is large everywhere else.

Jamesman posted:

I don't have hard evidence other then eatting fast food once a month but one large meal anywhere is enough to feed me for a day. Also a large at mcd is loving huge. its like 32oz of soda and 32oz of fries.
