Beefeater posted:Yes and no. It only improves on dropped gear as you improve the item. So say you got a set chest piece out of a dungeon in blue quality with a stamina enchantment on it - the enchantment would be blue quality as well. If you were to then improve the item to purple quality the enchantment quality would follow suit. Oh ok so yeah what you're saying is I can't really make anything that will keep up with random loot while I'm leveling probably because I can't make enchantments that keep up yet

Is there a good way to actually get enough ingredients to level provisioning and alchemy and poo poo? I can't really find provisioning ingredients anywhere and obviously picking up alchemy stuff is slow as hell too I take it they aren't sold anywhere to prevent people from just grinding them easily with money?

You can buy them on guild traders. Alchemy ingredients can be pretty damned expensive though. I don't have a link, but there's a few guides out there that give a pretty solid step by step means of leveling alchemy whilst learning the traits of pretty much all ingredients. As for provisioning, I just collected enough crap and recipes to make food until I was 50. Took me about 20 minutes.

I think it's pretty par for the course. Pretty much every and any MMO does this with expansions - announce new expansion, roll previous expansions into base package. I suppose I can see the issue with making it part of ESO+ rather than just absolute base game, but it makes sense given that the game doesn't have a sub if you don't want it to. They can't give everything away for free.

Right? I remember when they updated all armor and weapon traits and finally got rid of the loving terrible Prosperous trait. Official MMO boards are always loving terrible but the ESO ones are some of the worst I've ever seen.

These people would have lost their poo poo entirely on how Everquest did things, considering how many expansions they released and how many bundles would come with base game + XYZ expansions not long after. Here I am, paying $30 per expansion like a sucker, when this n00b got the game + 5 expansions for $50!!!

# ? Apr 6, 2018 20:18 |

Yeah EQ would bundle all previous expansions for a while like every expansion except the newest would be bundled and cost $15-30, but now you get every expansion except the last 2 for free (with their free tier of play even!) and you sub to get the new poo poo. It's honestly a good model, they get dev money + profit, and new people aren't put off by a $200 price tag to get up to current level of game.

Well, eventually. Sometimes. And only if you own a TV. I don't get the backlash that sometimes happens when an older product goes cheap or free. If you care enough to want to see/listen/play/use anything when it's released you will probably have to pay more than a person who is willing to wait a few months/years. Just about every form of consumable media works this way. It doesn't mean the early people got ripped off, just means they care enough to pay more. Nothing wrong with that.

I do get being frustrated by the timing of things. Like last summer I decided to buy the game with Morrowind and paid full price directly from ESO, then 2 days later I found out there are discount codes and deals that I just wasn't aware of. That kind of sucked, but whatever, not worth getting bent out of shape over.

As a repulsive nerd, I'm interested in the lore of the games I play and while I have participated in Cyrodiil and completed the Daggerfall Covenant storyline I'm still somewhat confused as to the context of the Alliance war (aside from a reason for PvP) Specifically why Cyrodiil and particularly the Imperial City is such an important objective for the non-DC factions. The DC's motivation seems to be to restore the Second Empire and they consider Empress Tharn to be a pretender, so it makes sense that they'd be trying to seize the throne by force of arms. But from what I can tell the Ebonheart Pact and Aldmeri Dominion are former provinces whose chief strategic interests are not to fall under the sway of the Empire or any attempt to remake the Empire. Which is fine but why do they need to control Cyrodiil or the Imperial City to do that? Is the assumption that the only way to secure their borders is to subjugate the Empire's traditional heartland by force? What exactly is either of their endgames assuming they win? Just form a new Empire but one ruled by Elves with maybe some Nords?
