That's the only PF party I've had with that guy, but not the only PF party with that kind of guy. :argh:

When my group was working on Hallicarnasus, we had a black mage that was basically there to fill in the 8th slot and the guy just could not do mechanics. I think we spent actual hours in total explaining how the forced march thing worked and he just couldn't process what the correlation was between his character facing and the movement.

Enough of this nonsense. You are an important mayor and this absurd contraption has wasted enough of your time.
Glad to finally see some tangible progress, don't really know why it's taken over two years to get this outfit into the game though.

I remember trying to do Shiva Extreme and spending about an hour and a half repeatedly trying to explain to someone the concept of intercardinal directions. Thank god we finally got more ground markers.

No seriously do you not understand how glamours work? Or is there just something inherently wrong with adding more glamour options to you?

But also you're wrong even on glamours cause people still wear pieces of the bunny set all the time. Can't go two steps outdoors in limsa without bumping into some bunny maid

What I imagine is some of the hypothetical appeal is that Eureka, unlike most other core content in the game, is either pass or fail. Most of the story challenges have the Echo so you can eventually win if you're even sort of okay at the game, with a hard mode there if you want it.

I think the problem here is that that appeal is - though not absent - far less widespread than folks' warm memories suggest. It also doesn't help that it sounds like Eureka doesn't scale: it's basically paying your dues for a few hours (if you can) and then you just join the train and hope your video card doesn't melt down as you accumulate comical quantities of loot items.

If they eventually work some kind of dailies/weeklies into it I could see it being sustainable, but it also sounds like Diadem (which I completely missed) went similarly.

What was the incentive for doing Diadem? I think Eureka will have some staying power because there are always people who want to grind for relics.

Diadem had exclusive items and also allowed you to get higher ilevel items than accessible elsewhere. It wasn't worth it.

Yesterday some random dude in Mor Dhona whispered me as i walked past him where he could get the crafter specialist crystals. I guided him to the NPC in Ishgard and he sent me a friend request, and we talked a little further for like half an hour. Turns out he wanted to become a CUL specialist to craft some dzo steaks, because he accidentally ate his only one. I gently led him to the realization that the task he had set for himself was quite a gargantuan one. I offered to make him some starter crafter equipment the next day, we talked a bit about soloing some content and other stuff in the game. I eventually logged off wishing him a good night.

Today he messages me out of the blue while i'm fishing, asking what to do when he can't stop having bad thoughts, that he has hurt himself since he was 8 years old, and that he took poison last year and how surprised he was that hospitals could actually lock you up
