They managed to get an experiment involving rolling 1000 dice wrong? Are their details? Or was it determined that they just made it up?

This is the red flag:

Afterwards we calculated the results and the Chessex and GW dice averaged 29% ones. Mind you that this is an average and our high was 33 and our low was 23. We removed any statistical anomalies and came up with 29%.

The part in bold makes no sense from an experimental point of view. It doesn't indicate if their dice or methods were flawed, but no one trained in statistics would even think of doing the above when testing this kind of thing. I did my own experiment on chessex dice when I was working with some image processing software and trying to extract dice faces from an image. In the training data that I counted, 23 tosses of 50 dice average a fraction of .1748 ones. That doesn't prove anything about my dice, but it's definitely inconsistent with the bias they're implying.

I feel like an idiot sperging about it but that article has bugged me ever since I read it years ago.

That Illuminor Szeras model people keep harping on is a problem exactly because it's so lazy - you criticised the Necron design for being 100% masculine, but that model was exactly the same just with giant tits lazily sculpted on to it. Do you really think there's women looking at that and thinking "well, I didn't like this all-male-coded faction before but now I'm in!"

Stuff like adding in Yvraine as a central character to the Ynnari, Neave Blacktalon/the Darkoath Warqueen to AoS (the latter is pretty fantasy-barbarian but she does fit into the faction aesthetic so idk I guess it's fine), making the Eschers really prominent in the new Necromunda and making them look like actual women, that's all a way better move forward than "here's a third-party model that looks like rear end but if you squint it's female, and then here's another where you can tell it's female from space thanks to its giant pornstar tits."

It's why you should never trust someone with a motley assortment of dice who insists on using certain dice for certain rolls.

Alternatively insist on using their lucky dice for your rolls too. You'll soon find out if it's simply OCD or something else.

For the white stripes I laid down some masking tape and stippled VMC White into those areas.

The stippling technique is from winters SEO on YouTube. Use an old 0 or 1 brush and cut down the bristles, then load with thick paint, wipe excess off and jab aggressively at model.

Yeah, that is going to be super obvious. And the easy way to check is to run over the dice with a magnet and see what moves.

But things like this might lead to tourny dice being a standard part of the scene, where tournys provide a block of dice to players as part of the fee. Stops any cheating and they can order the most balanced dice they can find.

1. Again, I'm not particularly attached to that model.

2. It actually does have significantly different proportions compared to the standard necron beyond just the chest.

3. It might be a little late to complain about 60's star trek alien design in 40k. A number of the races are Human, Large Dumb Human, Short Human, Blue Noseless Human, Human With Long Ears, Male Human Skeleton, Elder Gods That Are Human Shaped, Dumb Green Humans, Humanoid Demons, etc.

4. Screaming about giant porn star tits is likely more alienating than a model with two featureless bumps.

If you want to keep talking about that one model to hog wild, I'l probably respond because I'm not a fan of people throwing in dumb post-argument snipes after the topic's been dropped.

Go for the Aggressors. I seem to remember you mostly running your stuff as either Imperial Fists or Iron Hands and either tactic works really well for them. Honestly bolter Aggressors areso good basically any chapter tactic is great for them.

So here’s a question for your Battletech people then because I keep hearing it’s really fun. Would you recommend that game, the new God of War, or that my discretionary money keep going into hams.

I don’t generally buy video games these days but both look really good. On the other hand I only need one more box of Intercessors to run dual battalions.

They're both very good games, so do you want a character action game or a really granular strategy game?

You can get Battletech for 29 bucks if you buy it from here: https://gamestore.razer.com/lp/razer-exclusives and use the code "RGSSLICK10", might still have enough for those intercessors!

To be honest, the btech game has some issues (the recent patch causing crash to desktops on game start kind) so I'd wait a bit before buying it. God of War on the other hand is legitimately as good as people have been saying.

Battletech does have a few rough edges yeah, but it's been entirely stable for myself and friends.I think we're all at 70+ hours without issues.

If you liked Mechcommander back in the day, or always wanted to revisit the Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries idea of running a merc company, or you just like turn based strategy games, you're doing yourself a disservice not to try it. I dreamed of a Battletech game like this for more than twenty years, and I'm overjoyed with it.

Depends on what your game tastes are;

GoW has a surprisingly good story, its combat after you reach the main hub is pretty much a mashup of the best parts of recent action games, and it's open-ish world; you fast travel to separate areas, but those areas tend to be pretty big and it's not uncommon to stumble on things you missed the first few times. Surprisingly good replayability because of how much customization you can give the BOY! .Will probably be the game your IRL friends will be playing and talking about ATM if that matters to you.

Battletech is by Harebrained Schemes who made the fantastic Shadowrun: Original/Dragonfall/Hong Kong games, but from what I've heard the story is a bit on the basic side, possibly because they worked with like two other companies to maintain continuity + procedurally generated content to keep going after the story ends. If you're familiar with the tabletop game it will be a little weird, and there's some mechlab restrictions that might be awkward if you're expecting Mechwarrior levels of tweaking (most obvious being that you cant speed up/slow down mechs with different engines). The game itself is fantastic though, as to be expected from HBS. Multiplayer exists but is kind of an afterthought.

If you're looking to save money GoW is in a PS4 bundle which means it's going to end up pretty cheap in a month or two. Battletech might end up cheap but going off Shadowrun HBS is probably going to try to prolong its price with new expansions, so you might be better off getting it now through deals like GreenManGaming.
