The thing is If you REALLY strip it down Tiger and Bunny is actually kind of perfect for a movie adaptation. The core story is really solid and would have a lot of heart to explore without all of the layers of kind of pointless filler and endless subplots that don't actually resolve themselves. Maaaaybe reconsider the one romance subplot being between a dude and the girl who's like, three years older than his daughter though

Every couple of years I'll try out a new anime hoping that somehow there's another Cowboy Bebop unicorn out there. Each time ends in disappointment. Tiger and Bunny was probably the closest thing I found. But waaaay too much anime nonsense in there still.

It's still got annoying over done fanservice, but it actually feels appropriate given that the entire thesis of the show is that the main character is the most masculine person in existence and the entire show is basically one huge love letter to 1980s over masculine hyper violent anime. All of the fanservice is directed at Of Age characters as well. They don't do any of the usual creepy anime bullshit. Specifically though it's Garo Vanishing Line, because the first Garo anime, while a neat visual throwback to 1970s anime, isn't that great. And the second one, Crimson Moon, is inexplicably a mediocre mid 2000s anime made in 2016.

Margot Robbie talks a bit about her future plans with Harley.quote:“I pitched the idea of an R-rated girl gang film including Harley, because I was like, ‘Harley needs friends.’ Harley loves interacting with people, so don’t ever make her do a standalone film. She’s got to be with other people, it should be a girl gang. I wasn’t seeing enough girl gangs on screen, especially in the action space. So that was always a big part of it. http://collider.com/harley-quinn-movie-r-rated-margot-robbie/#cathy-yan

I've mostly enjoyed Deadpool 2's marketing, but the "lol look how long our hashtag is" and working chimichangas into each one five or six times jokes are very eye-rolly and the worst kind of Deadpool humor. Although, the internet has informed me that I am in the minority and "chimichangas" is apparently far and away the most popular Deadpool joke.

Deadpool humour immediately nosedives when it's just "Look, Deadpool doing a thing. It's funny because it's Deadpool. Look, Deadpool's wearing a hat!"

I never understood the claim that the Deadpool franchise has good marketing. Pretty much every joke they make is the absolute easiest one. Why yes, I do remember when Ryan Reynolds was in another superhero movie. It was less than a decade ago. Suicide Squad’s marketing took a movie that was incomprehensible and droll and made it look like a rollicking good time. That’s actually-good marketing.

The actual Deadpool movie was way better than various stunts they did to promote it, so hopefully this one will be the same.

Suicide Squad itself was a Frankenstein’s monster of a movie that was pushed through a “lighter and funnier” meat grinder and then ejected halfway through the process, the marketing made it look like the conversion was complete. And even if I was, “used all the good bits and relied heavily on a Queen song” is how marketing works, yeah, you got it champ.

It's all very tryhard and is falling into the Family Guy trap of "Look, see? Reference! That's funny! LAUGH, MOTHERFUCKER!" I'm genuinely expecting the movie to be a disappointment, both actually and financially. I think the joke wore off after the first one.
