I do like the thing where your level is the number of asterisks' worth of stuff you can do.

It's a terribly unrealistic Kickstarter and looks like a bad game. It's a good example of why I think we should have free community college for everyone, though: that dude is clearly compelled to create, and in another timeline he produced something amazing.

They most certainly can be fatal. Roughly 25% of all deaths by electrocution in the professional world occur at a voltage of 120v. I would imagine most non work related deaths due to electrical shock would occur at 120v. If we make a conservative estimate that lowest case body resistance is 300 ohms, then the threshold of lethal voltage is about 30 volts.

My statistics are based around work that occurs in the US. I should have been more clear in my post. I have no statistics readily available from other countries. But, I would imagine the amount of fatalities due to 120v range shocks is probably relatively low due to the lack of 120v applications.

I've been playtesting it. The deluxe edition looks good. If you playtest for them (it's open playtesting) and log 10 games, they'll upgrade your pledge to deluxe for free.

I figure that's worth it, but I've enjoyed the games I've played so far.

I've been busy participating in the public playtest and wrote some words about it above. They just put out a new updated playtest of it I've only gotten one playthrough of, so I haven't gotten to digest it properly. It's been good and I've been enjoying it, though there's still some outstanding balance issues to work out, and it can be punishing when things fall the wrong way. But it plays pretty quickly with people who have gotten to used to it, and having to juggle your plans against your opponent's routes is can be a real challenge.

There's a official mod for Tabletop Sim as mentioned by Molly above, so one preview or play the game that way as well. The official Level 99 discord also has a lot of player commentary and folks have been getting together TTS games roughly daily.

The playtest announcement can be found here and the feedback form is here. It got announced prior to the kickstarter on the official blog awhile back. I can't speak as to why it didn't get mentioned with the Kickstarter itself, other than possibly being content with the amount of response they've already been getting on the offer.

drat, I didn't even get the S1 stuff because it didn't appeal as strongly. Does it all come in a single box for you? I have no idea how they'd fit even more stuff in there. It's kind of nuts honestly, aside from Gloomhaven L99 probably makes some of the biggest, heaviest games I own, which is pretty wild when you consider Exceed is basically decks of cards.

The S1 boxes were separate, it's that they're about the size you'd expect for four decks of cards which is tiny compared to the S2 Collector's box. That bit about L99 is true for me as well, Millennium Blades is the second biggest board game I own.

Have you opened your S2 box yet? What was in there if you have?

I don't think I've seen it mentioned here, but I was pointed toward Darwin's Choice recently and it looks kind of neat? Card-based strategy game where players compete to create chimera animals that are best suited to the environments currently in play. They've also clearly put their work into making their pitch -- plenty of early copy reviews posted to the main page (all of which are positive), a well-thought-out FAQ and risks section, and a full rule PDF available.

If I owned Evolution I might pass, but since I don't this seems like a viable (and pretty) alternative.

Four individual S2 box sets, each of which has four decks of cards apiece, like five different cellophane-wrapped decks of promo stretch goal cards, a fairly thick art/story guide, and a neoprene play mat all rolled up. Maybe there's something else, I forgot. Oh, and a thank you note.

The Confrontation Kickstarter updates always have a weird "Please don't leave" vibe about them. I checked their numbers and it looks like a lot of backers unsurprisingly jumped ship when they were waiting to hear what kind of plastic they were doing.

I check kickstarter every few days and I swear that campaign has had multi day stretches where there was zero change in funding. That's pretty insane for something that raised several hundred thousand on its first day. It's like there were a bunch of people waiting with bated breath for the campaign that jumped on it immediately and then they attracted zero other people. Not that it's hard to see why.
