Eh it's still kinda weird to me, and a lot of things on a reread of it ring hollow to me (like how it implies surgery is necessary for transition and that dying magically made her look identical to a cis woman), but it's not terrible for something made by a dude in the 90s so I'm not gonna give Neil poo poo about it because he's probably gotten better about it.

Also is comicsgate just people freaking out over comic tropes that have been happening forever like a character getting replaced by a black person or something

yes but specifically because marvel made a big push a couple years ago to be more inclusive almost as a direct response to the new 52 and dc's comics for forty year old white guys, so you got like miles morales as spider-man or teen black girl iron man or ms marvel or uh im drawng a blank those were the high profile ones from the last few years tho fake edit also jane foster as thor

i think the only reason they dont bother whining about image is that there's no manager to fire the creators

Ms. Marvel and Miles Morales were both good, IDK much about the rest.

Sandman was good if you were a sensitive, nerdy 14-year old who really didn't know how badly he needed punk rock.

infinite was a failure for a lot of other reasons than just them being way more strict in who capcom could use

certainly didn't help though

Is there a summary somewhere about how that turned out? I remember there being a big shitfit when it happened, but I never heard where it went.

Also, the Sandman arc with the trans woman was pretty good for the time if not good for today, and Gaiman's heart was definitely in the right place when he wrote it.

Gaiman pretty clearly avoids talking politics or doing overtly political work, but I don't know how anyone could look at his work and think he'd in any way be down with the chud crowd.

His father is the head of the English branch of the church of scientology. He’s never said anything about it other than that he doesn’t talk about his family. I can see how his silence could seem like disagreement or assent to something he refuses to discuss.

He was hanging out with Tori Amos all through the 90's and married Amanda Palmer. Pretty sure that being a major ess-jay-doubleyew is mandatory in that crowd.

that was because they wanted to be able to do a mutants analog in the movies but dont own the x-men movie rights, see also: shuffling the fantastic four off the scene for a couple years

so they just replaced them, structurally, with the inhumans, because its basically the same thing

*deep breath* hydra cap got in a big fight with the avengers and during that fight bucky convinced the part of the cosmic cube that had taken shape as a young girl to bring back the original version of cap, from before the timeline was rewritten by the cube, and then the two versions of cap beat the poo poo out of each other and good cap won

this is skipping over the part of the story where, before the event itself, yo find out that what happened was the cosmic cube rewrote history so that cap was always a nazi, but part of that history was that actually the allies lost world war 2 and used te cube to rewrite so that they won and only cap and like, the red skull remembered
