P sure any legislation/industry moral panic on video games would go exactly like the Comics Code, where it's used to drive women, minority and marginalised voices out of the industry and reduce it to sanitised commercial products from the biggest corporations, which are still the subject of moral panics anyway

theflyingexecutive posted:bitcoin uses 7.7 gw per year to run Bitcoin is said to have used at least 24 TWh last year according to stuff I've read, which is said to be equivalent to Ireland's consumption. It is supposed to grow and have grown by exponential order per six months. If the figures are true then Bitcoin has surpassed the internet as an energy consumer, I guess, assuming Bitcoin is not counted as being part of the internet. But as I understand it measuring Bitcoin energy consumption is entirely a WAG and it's not worth thinking about. Google says the internet uses 70B kWh yearly which I think is 700 TWh I'm not a Bitcoin guy or anything, just was interested in the numbers you quoted.

Now Trump is Coming For Your Beerquote:Last week, Pete Coors, chairman of Molson Coors Brewing Co.—a global behemoth that owns the US-based giant MillerCoors—published a Wall Street Journal op-ed decrying the tariff. Coors, scion of a prominent right-wing Colorado brewing dynasty, is normally a Trump supporter. Back in June 2016, he co-hosted a $10,000-per-couple fundraiser for the then-upstart presidential candidate.
