PPC damage is unchanged. The problem is that the AC/5 and AC/10 buffs made it comparatively worse, also there's no real chance of a headshot kill with a PPC without cockpit crits in the game. (Or reduced armor debuffs of course)

I included the Awesome in my list because I would rather use an Orion at 75 tons because it loses 3% armor for not being 5% easier to hit and going a phase earlier, which means with a Master Tactician it is going in the medium phase. Also its just not that good.

At stock, assaults aren't easier to hit than heavies. Lights and mediums have bonuses to avoidance just from being lights and mediums, but that's it.

We're fucking built for this shit!
I turned the Awesome into a pretty effective laser boat in my first playthrough. Replaced each PPC with a LL+ML. Then added 2 HS and a ton of armor. It's kind of like the Swaybacks big brother.

Oh well poo poo, I thought that assaults were easier to hit on top of lights and mediums having that bonus to avoidance. Whoops.

PPCs can become a lot more useful if you let their debuff stack. Connecting with all three from an Awesome would drop the target's to-hit chance by a flat 15% (effectively 20% or more for most pilots)

For me it's all about raw damage. Debuff stacking sounds nice, but if I'm investing that amount of weight then I would rather have the potential to seek out head shots.

Headshots are such a non-factor for me; I can count on one hand how many called headshots I landed in 60 hours of play. I edited PPCs to stack the debuff up to 3 stacks and it loving ruled.

I field a bunch of Tac 10 pilots and I've had games where one pilot has headshotted three mechs. Assuming a 95% chance to hit and an 18% chance to headshot that's a roughly 1/3 chance per round.

I get that, that's why I said it's a non factor for me. I have had such horrible luck with rolls that I look for deterministic advantages, such as debuffs.

For a 3025 EWAR Raven you could just have it have an aura that increases friendly chance to hit and evade as well as decrease enemy chance to hit and disable their indirect fire.

if it were that simple they might have done it already, suggesting it's not quite that easy? I dunno.

the Raven is going to be tricky to get right - it has to be rare, but then it also needs to be powerful enough to use (as a player) or take seriously (as an opponent) without being overpowered. It has to do enough to merit not just dropping another 100t assault, but not so much as to make it 4x Raven meta. Has to have the right range of effect or else it's too easy to kill but without having range to be impossibly frustrating. Can't break any story missions, of course, and it should be tested out across the whole range of procgen.

and the whole time it has to be fun to use or face, or else what's the point

Monthly Morale Reset. Every pay cycle, your crew morale resets back to a base value + Argo improvement bonuses, and events only provide monthly bonuses that expire.

Eh, this won't solve the problem of lances running 4x+3 Morale per turn. The issue with morale isn't your starting number, but how easy it is to use it twice a turn, every turn, forever.

Mostly agree but I'm def in the minority since I found the Trebuchet to be much better than the Cent. My first LRMbot was a Cent and it was fine but it was slooooowwwwww. I actually had a few fights where it was out of range since it couldn't keep up with my jumpy mediums. Especially problematic on escort and convoy missions. I traded it in for a Tre as soon as I was able to salvage one. It had less armor but the same missile loadout and was a hell of a lot more maneuverable.

The AC variant Jager is workhorse, as well. It was my first heavy and I kept it basically stock for a while. The 2xAC5+2xAC2 was absolute murder on lights/meds. Later on, I switched it to dual AC10++ and more armor and it slayed.
The Orion is hands down the best mech in the game imo. At one point I was running a 3/4 lance of them, all kitted out differently - LRMbot, AC20/SRM brawler, and dual AC5/ML support. Usually ran them with a punch-build SHD or the dual AC10 Jager depending on the mission type.

Is it just me, or do the melee mods (arm actuators, the only ones I've found) seem pretty not worth it? I mean I have a +20 Melee Damage one that seems pretty rad, but for 4t? I guess maybe they make sense for builds without a lot of hardpoints?

Cent LRM boat is much more amazing in the end, but making GBS threads on the Treb entirely has got to be down to people are looking back from the top of the heap, or spent ten times as much milling around as I did before/as soon as they got the Argo to have 10 stat pilots when quickdraws are a popular enemy heavy.

Treb having one arm aim bonus launcher for LRMs is a godsend in the earlier game where your overall stats are not very impressive and knowing "Wow, first indirect fire penalty reduction hardly helps at all".

That's a big part of why I first said gently caress it and adjusted my Cent down to "only" 30 LRMS, with Jets. Being able to poo poo out more indirect missiles at once is nowhere near as impressive, when you are missing nearly half of them with sensor lock. Then I kept the Cent because it could fit more armor/sinks/whatever than a Treb while keeping a similar loadout once my pilots had "Only" 7/7 Gunnery/tactics

But no, please, nerf tactic because of people who are afraid to let the enemy even enter visual range of their assault mech

(Dual AC5 with X4 Mlas Jager was Glitch's killstealing clean up crew bot for when my hot poo poo early game Orion didn't quite kill things with the AC20).

Speaking of frequent Darius notifications.

I'm at the last mission to finish the war and my lab experiment 2/2/2/3 rookies locked into the sim pods since I got the argo will still be barely breaking 17k. Which is exactly enough exp to reach 3/3/5/8.

Yes Darius, I know Sumire's E-sports league can spend experience. But the contract they signed says they can't until they hit the cap on the pods. They were so excited about their "Free experience", at first.

Sighted my first Cataphract not long after Grave Robbers. The first shot at it was my first Gauss headchop and the game gave me the third piece to it on the random salvage section.

Now how to fit it...

Also for the melee mod, remember that adds to the damage of the hit and not separate hit locations. Very few things can take a 150+ damage hit to a pristine location without it going internal.
