The MSJ posted:Are they like the Wei Jiang of fake console makers? I'm not a transformers guy so I can't say for sure. But like, on the cheaper end of clone and emulator retro game systems, they're a decent brand. Retro-Bit is also a good cheap brand with several interesting systems out there (I have their 3-in-1 HD which runs NES, SNES, and Genesis cartridges, but there's also a new thing they have called a Supercade that is an emulator based system that plays all of those in rom form and arcade/mame type roms as well.) There's plenty of expensive brands out there too that basically end up being the video game equivalent of audiophiles buying high end stereos with like, 800 dials on them.

Here's some CoolBaby gameplay to give you a good idea of the sorts of games that you can find on it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixMbNfdbzd8 So basically, you've got the usual suspects of bootleg/knockoff games, along with a sizable number of legit NES games of varying degrees of quality and some particularly weird ROM hacks yoinked straight off the internet.

Don't most electronics just step it down or something? Then again, maybe they need all that electricity to cool down the baby

Eh it’s pretty normal to have stuff designed for different markets’ power. Apple, for example, has switching power supplies for multi voltage because you’re paying for well engineered gear (plus in the case of laptops, it’s likely youll travel and put it into a converter. Have a ton of fried laptops ain’t good PR).

Even my original EeePC 701 had a power supply that would work on anything from 100v to 250v.

Now, I won't comment on some of the recent stuff (I've not used it and I know plenty of people who were happy with their gear in their past are not fans), but some of the things they've made in the past are very, very high quality. And the 'cheese grater' Mac Pro is probably the best PC design of all time, the internals were just insane. Also I got fantastic service for my iMac and Air back home where stuff would be covered for free for 5 years due to EU law (and them not fighting it, but instead happily telling me my repairs were covered without issue. Try getting that out of ASUS and similar). My current main machine is a 2012 Mini and I have no reason to change it, if it dies I'll probably buy another one. My iMac at the time was also cheaper than the equivalent PC of same design and specs. Experiences differ of course, but there's plenty of us who bought machines from them with a background in PCs and building machines on our own and not caring about the logo on the back. Not to say everything they make/made is good, but to discount them instantly because of brand and the assumption it's all a luxury tax isn't always the truth. I too have a lovely lightning McQueen transformer, but mine's even worse. It goes from car to hosed up egg. The other difference is that mine is actually officially licensed and approved by Disney-Pixar

I wonder what it takes to " kill" a toy. If you were to remove Woody's head, would be head continue talking and the body still be able to move around? In 1 and 2, we saw that limbs, at least, aren't mobile apart of the the main body. In 1, you could see that it's more of a ...statis sitation, as Buzz's arm was returned, but as well with Sid's "experiments", creating new forms of toy "life". In conclusion, the Toy Story universe is one filled with abject horror, but that most inhabitants are ignorant of. Edit: What qualifies as a toy? Would that giant yellow rubber duck in Canada be "alive"?

Johnny Aztec posted:Edit: What qualifies as a toy? Would that giant yellow rubber duck in Canada be "alive"? We’ll probably never know since they’re some kind of indeterminate Heisenberg life-form. When a human observes them, the probability of their existence collapsing into a toy state approaches unity.
