A cheap book cover or a 90's CD ROM game is about what I'm getting from it. It kind of seems like it was cobbled together with clip art and standard fonts. Contrasted with the Only God Forgives poster, I stand by it seeming boring.

Mr. Squishy posted:Apparently he's colour-blind, which leads to his film's weird colour pallette. He gets his cinematographer to shoot films he can see. He is also so extremely dyslectic that he was functionally illiterate into his early teens. Which he says helped shape the way he does things and how he thinks more in terms of visuals than words.

I miss those sick imax posters they used to give out. I’d get a few thanks to employees being like “whatever man, take 4 of em”.

Jin Roh was a live action film series long before it was an anime, and iirc the live action films are still the more well known parts in asia.Rageaholic Monkey posted:lmao same That's because the killzone guys are very pen about being inspired by stray dogs/jin roh.

For my 15th birthday I took all my friends to the university where the uni's anime club would have screenings on Saturday nights. I'm pretty sure it was a Cardcaptor Sakura and Jin-Roh double feature which was pretty much artistic whiplash I wouldn't expect many people to be familiar with the movie. The dull red glow from the eyes of the soldiers' helmet have always been a striking image though. Seeing it in Killzone years and years ago was my first "oh so you can just take rad parts of other art" moment

His recent one, Age of Shadows, is fantastic. It's probably slipped under the radar since it's less of a genre movie. Yeah. Thanks for pointing out the director. I wouldn't have thought about it again if it weren't for that.
