The air conditioner in my apartment does this thing where, after reaching the desired temperature and shutting off, it turns on again every "x" amount of time afterwards to draw some air in and sample the temperature. If it's still below the setpoint, it'll wait a little longer before sampling again. However, if it performs 3 or 4 temperature checks in a row without it needing to cool, it waits FOREVER to do the next one, like 8 hours. If THAT one still doesn't need cooling, I'm drat near convinced it just shuts off (even though the display stays on).

I can totally understand this from an Energy Star and economical standpoint, but it's really annoying. I live in Phoenix, and during the day we're already hitting 100 degree temps, but at night we're dropping to the mid-70's to low 80's. If I set the temp on the AC to 75, it'll keep the apartment cool during the day, but as night falls it may not need to cool for those first 3 or 4 checks, then it'll wait ALL NIGHT as the apartment slowly heats up, but the check it does right before sunrise may still fail as it's getting the cooler air from outside. Then it'll sit all day and I'll go to class and come back to a 90 degree apartment, even though the AC was still technically "on."

This means that, at least once a day but more like 3+ times a day, I have to manually turn the AC off, wait five seconds, and then turn it back on for it to sample and finally kick the compressor on. And it's a brand new Amana unit, not some old junker (I had a problem with the one installed when I moved in, so they gave me a new one).

Does abdy like here like spicy food? Not Mexican food spicy, not even a decent Vindaloo spicy, but random noodles from the Chinese supermarket spicy?

These noodles are a whole other thing. You try some. No big deal. Then you saliva arrives, and it’s somehow spicier. You drink something, but the spicy saliva comes back, the only thing that helps more spicy noodles, rinse, repeat.

Also: I drove a CVT 1.6 Petrol Nissan Juke and it was the worst car ever.

They make those in a 2x hot version as well. I eat em probably twice a week for lunch. Since I've had this sinus cold I've probably had a solid 5 bags just to get poo poo to drain :v:

Can you put something on the supply feed to interrupt it automatically at set times?

Nah, even with a set fan speed it'll shut off after like 20 minutes tops and start the sample cycling, just at that fan speed.

cakesmith handyman posted:

I can, but the default setting after a power interrupt is "off."

Honestly an Arduino IR blaster seems to be the solution, which is BS.

Ok, that's pretty weird. A fan set to low/med or high should stay that speed for ever (on cooling and fan mode at least - fans shutting off on heat and dehumidify is normal). I don't know USA stuff that well but likely it's just software or jumpers for economy mode that any tech specialist of that brand could fix for you if asked. It definitely will be possible because commercial applications of their product will demand minimum airflows for health/ventilation standards

I love those, and order them 50 at a time from amazon. I add more hot sauce to the regular ones. The 2x ones are very hot and if you're not used to spicy food good luck.

They sound tasty. I'm gonna hunt some down!

It also appears that like many chicken flavoured things that they are also made with 'artificial chicken flavouring' thus making them vegetarian/vegan. Suck it meat eaters.

I drain all of the water, then add the packets and just stir and nuke for another second, cause all I have at work is a microwave.

The regular is like...just spicy enough to taste it, the 2x is like the sweet spot between tasty and "this hurts."

It's literally in the instructions.

Boil till soft, drain all water, add sauce/seasoning packets. At that point you're supposed to sautee it.
