I’ve been unable to get into Uada at all, despite having seen them live twice. However, the main guy’s previous band, Ceremonial Castings, was a staple of my high school years.

Yup. For some reason they remind me of Blood in our Wells by Drudkh, another record I really love.

Saw a dude get crowdsurfed during Pessimist and dropped on his head over the railing cause no one was there to catch him. There was a large pool of blood. He walked away tho

The Ruins of Beverast was the best set of MDF so far, you all should really listen to them if you haven't yet.

Trip report before I forget everything

Indian Nightmare: missed most of their set but what I heard was serviceable blackened speed metal. Seemed like swell guys

Cuntroaches: very noisy hardcore. They really love their feedback

Malokarpatan: ahhhh they rule so much :) I had a great time doing all the moves :) guitar was mixed way too low though

Hellish Crossfire: teutonic thrash from... Germany?! Good band, excellent drummer

Hällas: I'm racist against all Swedish musicians except Quorthon, so I used their slot to get some food. It was mediocre and overpriced

Kringa: I expected these guys to be atmospheric black metal but they were actually the regular, good kind. Their bassist plays barefoot and looks like fucken Ulillillia

Pagan Altar: didn't see a single second of their set because I had a loving five hour conversation with an Australian guy outside the venue. He offered me, quote, "lovely speed" about halfway through

Pretty good festival overall.

What should I prioritize today: the new Witch Mountain, this Alkaloid album everyone mentioned, or finally getting around to the Rivers of Nihil album everyone fawned over a few months ago?

Don’t do this to me there’s too much! Metal needs to chill with having an insanely active and good underground. How anyone keeps up while finding time to listen to anything but new metal releases is beyond me.

Also I don’t know if it’s a tour but Batushka and The Chasm are playing Chicago in August :getin:

lol this is me but 2016 is when I started doing that. I’m also really terrible about checking out new releases by unfamiliar artists. Only 1/4 of what I’ve heard this year is by someone new to me.

I have no idea how people keep up with it either. I was keeping myself from buying anything from October of last year up until maybe a month or so ago and my backlog is out of this world. Somehow I've been able to maintain some modicum of self-control when it comes to buying albums

It's weird that I was proud of myself for only spending $17 yesterday on both Our Place of Worship Is Silence records as well as the latest Destroyer 666 EP, and I've still got my eyes on the new Ritual Necromancy that just dropped.

Also the Thy Feeble Saviour record that came out on Hells Headbangers a couple of months ago loving RIPS. Check it out if you want some Black Witchery/Morbosidad/Profanatica-like tunes:

Glad I’m not alone haha

Why bother listening to sick new metal albums when I can listen to 5 hours of talking about Rasputin’s big ol’ dick swinging through Russian history

And tbh I listen to so much true crime that it might as well be spoken word metal
