Neon Demon is one of my favourite horror movies, maybe one of my favourite movies.

I guess I should give Valhalla Rising a rewatch, like maybe if I develop stomach cancer and need something to help me sleep.

:laffo: Terrence Howard’s fright club. Imagine if scare tactics was less restrained and convincing, mixed with a bit of unchecked celebrity ego.

Basically people are told they get to stay at Terrence Howard’s Louisiana mansion for a weekend (only after they give a short monologue about how successful and sexy he is) and the he proceeds to have zombies and demons pop out at them every 15 minutes as they sit there confused and eyeballing around for hidden cameras.

Choice quote from the first 10 minutes. “Uh, unfortunately the way my life is set up I cannot be drinkin nobody blood and stuff”

Is it a movie or a ‘spooky’ jump scare show, and Terrence Howard just pops out of closets in a cheap mummy costume? Because the second option sounds amazing.

I finally gave Friday Night Lights a watch, and drat they really capture that small-town football obsession well. I mostly watched it because a lot of people ask if I named one of my pets ‘Boobie’ after the character.

Writers strike pretty much made season 2 completely laughable garbage, but keep going past that and it gets really good again.

Oh I watched the film. But aside from S2, it’s worth giving the series a watch?

Are the characters on the show the same from the film, or different?

I think most people are talking about the tv show when they talk about Friday Night Lights, I've never actually seen the film.

e: looking at imdb it seems that Connie Britton might be the only actor to play the same role in the series and the movie, although the character names are all different.

FNL the series is great, I've watched it twice and now that it is back on streaming will probably watch it again in the fall.

Brad Leland plays Buddy in the series and a similar character in the movie.

Is it on prime or Hulu? I looked for it after watching the movie, but it wasn’t up on Netflix.

I liked if for the fact it basically revolved around how rabid the fan-base was, and the three ‘main’ guys in the movie being like ‘I gotta get outta this shithole town; we’re destined for something better’.

Boobie sobbing in his uncle’s car after his second injury that ‘football was all he could do’ and ‘he was going to buy him a house’ just straight-up crushed me.

It is, in fact the the second option. Except he just sits behind the scenes while other people pop out in mummy costumes.

Well that’s completely killed any interest. You’ll host the show but you won’t do the work of putting in those super-cheap plastic vampire fangs to scare a guy opening an armoire?’

Just watched Adventureland. It's a 1 hour and 47 minute long movie and it took me until 50 minutes to go "hey ya know what when are these zombies going to show up, really milking this backstory" and look it up.

That was me. I follow him on Instagram, and lately he has been posting pictures from Nashville. I hope that means season 2 is about wrapped up.

Also don’t forget Debra Winger has joined the cast.

Retribution is pretty silly. Dirty cop threatens a drug dealer that can incriminate her by saying she'll upload child porn into his computer, and the guy acts like she's pulled a trump card. Why not just say, "Okay, why don't I get the detective right now and tell him everything, then you won't be able to get into evidence lock up because you'll be under investigation"?

If I found the first episode of Patriot an absolute bore does it get funnier or more exciting or whatever it's supposed to be in later episodes, or is it just not for me?

I liked Patriot, but didn't love it the way some people here do. Still, I expected to see the lead actor in other stuff because he's really good, but he's MIA. What's he up to lately?

To be fair, it's never fast paced per se. There's a lot going on but a lot of it is more subtle like references to other plotlines and jokes. I'm a fan, but if that's not your style it may not be for you.

Thief is on Prime and really scratches that Michael Mann itch. Someone at Amazon has a really sick sense of humor because they gave Jim Belushi top billing over James Caan. Also the Tangerine Dream soundtrack is really goddamn good and sounds way ahead of its time for 1981.

Yeah. I’ll defend season 4, but this new season is easily the weakest thing they’ve done. It gets better around episode 6, but when your season is only 8 episodes you’ve probably lost most of the audience by then. It also feels incredibly low-budget and small-scale. Most of the side characters either appear in one or two early scenes or don’t appear at all until the last few episodes. They also jettisoned almost all of the characters introduced last season (Dubris, Herbert Love, Lindsay’s face-blind boyfriend, Lucille 2’s brother, Oscar’s friends) and Oscar hasn’t shown up at all, though I’m only on episode 7.

The weak re-edits of last season should have been a sign this was going to suck.

With the exception of Oscar's friends, I'd say axing these characters was maybe the only positive thing to come from the new season. They were just bad, and the show spent way too much time with them (probably because they couldn't get the main cast to film for that long).
