Thanks for the one man suggestions y’all I’ll check them out. I know burzum and bathory obviously, should have clarified current bands. Not a bad album put out by them really. Lay of Thrym is my go to Tyr album. It's pretty great. Unpopular opinion time: I like the new Ghost, bringing them to 2/4 albums that I actually like. Opus Eponymous was good but those middle albums are balls.

I want to say they did a couple of shows a few years ago where they played either In Times Before the Light or Nexus Polaris in full but it was one off things. Last I'd heard Lex (Nagash) is focused on Troll and Kovenant is an after thought. I was pretty excited when they were talking about Aria Galactica because it was supposed to be more orchestral and Nexus Polaris like, and then nothing.

Also I firmly believe that everyone should just listen to whatever the gently caress they want. I like poppy riffs, goofy lyrics about satan, and am an absolute sucker for keyboards so I like Ghost, but other people dislike a linear combination of those things so they don't. I vaguely worry that the weird PURITY thing about metal is what attracted nazis to it but

Of all the embarrassing bands I like Ghost is actually one of the better ones  I actually listened to/own Christopher Lee's extremely terrible album about Charlemagne, for one thing It's real loving bad you guys but I like listening to the late Christopher Lee say/sing things

As long as I can remember one of the best parts of being a fan of metal/punk/noise/whatever was all the poo poo talking and debating with other fans about why their opinions are objectively wrong and their favorite band is garbage. I know a few guys who get into these eloquent and passionate battles over bands and it’s entertaining every time. People’s opinions almost never change but gently caress it, it’s fun.
