I mean if you've got a plan for an ancom revolution that'd be a nice option too but it seems unlikely at present. And I'm fairly sure that would definitely have some constitutional problems.

https://human.globalincidentmap.com/ Qultists are all excited about this website that promises a "Global Display of Human Trafficking" by compiling every news report they can find (in English) and listing it on a table and pinning it on a map. While it is true that many of the news headlines say "human trafficking" or similar, we should not be at all surprised to note that a bunch of the entries are for consenting adults buying and selling sex... plus they're counting arresting actual sex workers themselves as "human trafficking" victories. quote:[thehour.com] CONNECTICUT - Car Stop Leads To Prostitution Charges quote:[thespectrum.com] UTAH - Two Women Arrested At Japan Massage On Prostitution Charges quote:[WVNS] WEST VIRGINIA - Princeton Woman Arrested For Prostitution quote:[chillicothegazette.com] OHIO - Four Women Arrested On Prostitution Charges In Chillicothe

Deathy McDeath posted:June 11th is supposed to be THE DAY, according to Q. Anyone else oddly looking forward to it? Of course the 23rd came and went and nothing happened so the Qberts decided that he must have meant 23 days from the 19th, which is the 11th of June. A deleted youtube account claiming to be Julian Assange (but, for some reason, writing exactly like Q) said big things would happen on the 11th. If nothing happens then, they'll probably chalk it up to disinfo by whoever ran that youtube account. That said, the Inspector General's report on the Clinton email investigation is coming out that day. They'll latch onto something from that for sure.

I'm looking for a word, and it's related to "Pareidolia" but not the same thing. Is there a term for the belief that everything you need to know is right there, that the obvious solution is available to anyone who looks for it? Like it reminds me of a mystery novel, where the author pretty much needs to give you the clues so theoretically you could be not-surprised by the ending. It may indeed surprise you, but in hindsight you should be able to look back and see how the solution was there but hidden. Or like in a videogame, where there simply *must* be a way to get past a given boss, or there would be no point to the game, there *has* to be a way to get across the chasm/swamp/etc, a game just can't completely dead-end. The Qult (and a lot of other conspiracy theorists) are like that, believing that every single clue needed to crack the case is something generally available to a retail worker in Bangor, otherwise somehow it wouldn't be "fair". There's no "well, a lot of these details are thoroughly hidden in ways that won't be discovered for decades" and instead a fixation that if they just poke enough stuff and look for tangential relationships, it'll all fall into place. Is there a word for this?

I dunno but its how I feel playing Rummikub after about the 5th round on and I can attest to the sort of hypnotic, maddening, hyper-focus that it involves. I can understand the allure of having that feeling while trying to uncover some massive global conspiracy.

TapTheForwardAssist posted:I'm looking for a word, and it's related to "Pareidolia" but not the same thing. I know what you mean, but I've never heard a name for it either. Some combination of paranoia, the just world fallacy (like you said, unsolvable mysteries aren't "fair"), and anti-intellectualism (what use are experts in a world where conspiracies are unraveled on reddit and diseases are cured at home by moms?). It almost reminds me of super old-school fairy tales, where the fairies are malicious and deceptive, but can't straight-up lie: they always have to weave a bunch of half-truths and implications that really clever people can see through. We might as well coin a term for it. "Fair play conspiracies," maybe? From fair play mysteries.

Either because they vaguely potentially have a geopolitical impact, or because they're just 50% mentally ill and the other half just loving stupid.
