Campaign is going a lot smoother now, and I'm seeing town events that aren't just bugs!

Now if the game would stop giving me dour hunger events in short Dungeons that'd be great.

Can someone who backed the Kickstarter copy-paste the text of the last two KS updates into this thread? I'm a slacker backer; just got an email about Colour of Madness DLC codes, but no code actually shows up on BackerKit. I'd really like to know what's going on.

Update 50
Dear Adventurer Tier+ Darkest Dungeon Backer:

Thank you! Your early pledges via Kickstarter enabled us to build the game we wanted to make. Darkest Dungeon continues to have more success than we could have imagined back in 2014, and we are very grateful for the continued support.

Since our early access on Steam, we have added tons of new content to the game with free updates and paid expansions. We’re one of the lucky few developers who have been able to build off a successful release to grow both our audience, and our game’s scope. We’re extremely excited to see the reactions to our third DLC “The Color of Madness”, as well as the numerous balance and tuning changes we’ll be rolling out to the base game.

We have, after lengthy consideration, decided to make The Musketeer DLC available free to all owners of Darkest Dungeon, effective on release of The Color of Madness DLC on June 19th (on Steam).

As you know, The Musketeer has been an Adventurer-Tier Kickstarter Exclusive. Since her release, we’ve honored that exclusivity and have publicly maintained the position that we had no plans to release the class to non-backers, regardless of how much money people were willing to pay!

The reality is, counterfeit mods of the class already exist, and it’s impossible to effectively prevent those from being distributed. Ultimately, as we move forward with our follow-up title, we feel that releasing this class to the larger community will add richness to the game, increasing value to all who own it.

We hope that you’ve enjoyed the lengthy period of exclusivity, and that you understand our desire to leave the game in as good a shape as we can. We’re pleased to offer you a free code for the “The Color of Madness” DLC in order to preserve the value of your pledge. Your game code for The Color of Madness will be sent out via BACKERKIT, so check your email or log in to your account to redeem. (It may take a day or so to distribute)

Once again, thank you for your support of Darkest Dungeon. In the event that you are unhappy with this news, we invite you to contact us at backersupport@redhookgames.com with your concerns so we may discuss it with you.

Update 51
Hey Backers!

After our last update we tried to send out the keys via Backerkit and something went wrong! You might have received 1 or 2 emails containing either a text file of 3500 keys or a single key to redeem the next DLC Color of Madness. If you did and redeemed a key, you probably also got a message from STEAM about a key being revoked due to FRAUD. (Not your fault at all by the way!)

All of the above was our fault and we are working to resolve it. We have revoked all those keys listed in the text file. This should not affect your STEAM account at all, and we will be getting new keys to send out later this week. Thank you for your patience and we are apologize for the confusion!

There's a mod that gives the musketeer alternate color palettes, one of which is black, if that's what you really care about

If it makes you feel any better there's a mod that adds the Musketeer in as a separate class if you provide the assets in the folder, which has the knockon effect of making you twice as likely to get an Arbalest over everything else since they're the same, but it is fun to mix it up.

edit: Or there used to be, I dunno if it's still up after the mass exodus of musketeer mods from the workshop due to the whole exclusivity thing.

edit again: Found it. Seems the mod changes the skills so it's truly unique though.

I haven't really followed the game in the last few months, but that mention of a balance overhaul for the core game has made my ears perked up. Are there any details on that?

Also, is there a mod to play on highest difficulty without the time and death limits? Has anyone here tried the trinket rebalance mod? That one looks interesting on first glance.

i dont have the game installed right now so i cant check the specifics, but this can be modded in fairly trivially. i remember that i did it last fall. if you have crimson court, it's somewhere in the bloodmoon directory, otherwise it lives in a parallel file in the directory for stygian mode.

I'd like to know too. One thing that has gotten me a little bored of the game is the fact that the inventory system is so limiting it is really difficult to balance trinkets. Having only 2 slots leaves little room for fun builds or experimentation because the game can get so unforgiving if you don't stack your deck as much as possible.

While unoriginal, those ____ stone items would make more sense in the game if there was socketable weapons/armor that got different effects based on what equipment you put the stone in (ie get a little bit of bleed chance if you put it on a weapon, or bleed resist if you put it on your armor, etc)

Yeah, there's a whole bunch of interesting or potentially viable trinkets that are just completely overshadowed by Sun and Moon rings. +15% damage and +10% accuracy at a downside of only +10% stress is a massive chunk of stats compared to just about everything else. The accuracy is what really makes it superior, since champion enemies get a giant dodge boost for... reasons.

The courtyard makes it worse since it's considered to be at full light, so you get the benefits without even having to bring a billion torches to burn.

Nah it's gonna be a speeder bike section where you hop chasms and avoid barriers and the whole ordeal is 20 minutes of rote memorization of the pattern. Also this section can't be bypassed and happens 25% of the way into the DLC.

Crimson court being what it ended up being was a big disappointment for me. Pre release when they had mosquito vampires and new class i was hyped thinking it was just going to be another area like the others in the game with new enemies and bosses and area specific disease. Then it ends up being all pre made layouts and puts the new enemies into old areas and blagh. It also doesnt seem possible to mod it to work like the original areas either.

Like redhook could just crank out new areas with monsters every 8 month or whatever and id buy em for 20 bucks a pop on release.

Im also bummed out they seem to have dropped the rogue mode they had been talking about back in ea
