My capri is based on a BF 323 from the same era, using the same engine as low spec 626's, and boy it is sure a car. Everything rattles, everything. I'm shocked that the trim around the radio hasn't shaken itself loose yet from all of the vibrations. If all of the mechanicals and horrible interior weren't attached to a convertible, it would be even more boring and uninspiring than my xA. It's more reliable than a higher spec 626, at least

I guess I shouldn't blame Mazda without throwing some blame at Ford, as it has nearly the same dash and steering wheel as a Mercury Sable, just the seats, shifter and center console out of a BF Familia Cabriolet

When I worked at Mazda, there was a guy who worked with me who was a service manager for a Ford dealership at the time those Capris were being sold. The running joke was that they should be giving away a golf umbrella with each car sold, so that the new owner might have a vague chance of staying dry when it rained.

We've done some of these for MEng classes in the time I've been working in the lab.

It's not nearly as exciting as the bandsaw that cut the costa concordia (or was it the cougar ace?)- we tend to take assemblies or parts, locate, cut, deburr, and then reassemble. There's really no way (IME) to make a clean cutaway like that without it being sharp as poo poo. Obv, the fasteners cut in half need to be clocked, and are rarely torqued. It's not nearly as simple as it looks.

I can say this for certain- there's a lot more going on there than is immediately obvious.

I figured it might be more involved than some magical lightsaber swipe, but it's a nice image.

I've always loved the car but I was finally sold on it being the coolest car the world has ever seen when a dude popped up on the Hoonigan channel with one. It was an episode with a 1100hp Huracan also but nobody gave a gently caress because COUNTACH.

Anyway they did a couple of tiny drag races and the owner of the Countach who was wearing a white suit demonstrated the only way you can reverse it; door up with you hanging out of the loving car looking backwards. Here at 19:18

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WW7YDFZDKnE

Can we also discuss that as time has gone on Lamborghinis have gotten more boring looking? The Countach still looks completely batshit crazy.

I took pics of some cool race bikes, too. This thing here looked like it was built in a shed. Welded transmission/chain case, missing fuel return lines, and the seating position looked similar to what's quoted above. But I guess you can't argue with those results.
