I'm going on a trip and need some new death metal recs. My rotation lately has been: - Hate Storm Annihilation - Storm of Flames - Suffocation - Pierced From Within - Defeated Sanity - Passages Into Deformity and Chapters of Repugnance - Temple of Void - both of their albums - Dying Fetus - Wrong One to gently caress With - Septycal Gorge - Scourge of the Formless - Gorgasm - Orgy of Murder and Masticate to Dominate - Cult of Endtime - In Charnel Lights - Origin - Unparalleled Universe Looking for stuff more on the brutal side (I love Defeated Sanity), but anything similar to Hate Storm Annihilation or Cult of Endtime would work too.

The new Burial Invocation isn't really in that style but it's insanely good Something like the Beheaded album from last year (Beast Incarnate) is probably a better fit. Also any Kronos album. Henchman of Santa fucked around with this message at 04:48 on Jul 9, 2018 |

The new Skinless is extremely good. A couple from last year that I liked were Entrails - World Inferno (pretty much classic swedish death metal, loving rips) and Azarath - In Extremis.

I must confess: I'm a newbie in most matters of "even slightly underground Extreme Metal acts", so I had never heard of Skinless. But... Thanks guys. Couldn't get into the new Skinless album but picked up Trample the Weak, Hurdle the Dead. I grabbed Colossal Titan Strife by Kronos as well. Got another 2 hours before I leave so feel free to drop some more recs if y'all have any.

I've been listening to a lot of Overkill lately and that run from 1985 to 1991 with Feel The Fire, Taking Over, Under the Influence, The Years of Decay and Horrorscope is probably unmatched in terms of consistent quality at least when it comes to thrash metal.

Like a deathcore band would probably make something at least mosh-worthy out of those chords and octave intervals and I would be slightly embarrassed to admit that it sounded rad. But for loving real, that sounded incredibly uninspired. Like the guy from Relapse records held Scott Hull's family at gunpoint and said "Write a bad hardcore song. C'mon, motherfucker, I need that sweet aging demographic!".
