People's inability to understand that caring about esoteric politics stuff like this is a luxury, even if what's happening is actually loving crazy and has big ramifications, will always baffle me. I guess it's because they still are convinced of the meritocracy and the fairness of the market, and that people being so poor and with such real pressing problems that they don't have time to think about these kinds of politics can't enter into the picture. But it's staring them right in the face; people don't give a poo poo about these frankly fuckin' crazy revelations because they have no shits to give.

l looked up wasserman-schultz's book (2013) and drat, you know it's bad if publisher's weekly rips you this bad: quote:In this rote, camera-ready recitation of the party platform, Democratic National Committee Chair Wasserman Schultz hews close to official talking points. The youngest woman ever elected to the Florida State Legislature, only the third woman to head up the DNC, and a cancer survivor, Wasserman Schultz's personal story is an impressive one, but little of the will and power of the person appears on these pages. Instead, she and co-writer Fenster provide a run-down of last year's popular campaign issues, including immigration, women's rights, health-care, and, of course the economy, outlining the official Democratic position on each, while explaining how and why the Republican party is the wrong choice for America. The chapter on foreign policy neglects to mention the hugely unpopular drone program, and no reference to the Keystone XL pipeline sullies Wasserman Schultz's pristine take on the Democratic environmental platform. Anyone longing for a retread of last year's campaign will enjoy this defense of the winning position; however, political junkies and non-partisan observers will find nothing more than the status quo.

top-rated review of deb's book on amazon:quote:Ayn Rand is a terrible writer and failed philosopher. Debbie Wasserman Schultz is worse. This book is full of nauseating retreads of failed political ambitions. Her thought for "The Next Generation" are nothing short of reselling the failures of Reagan's Trickle Down Economics to the next generation in support of the dying Democratic Party. This book is not worth the electrons to download it let alone the insult to the environment to print it with ink on paper.

"For the Next Generation" is a matter-of-fact book that addresses national policy issues with the ultimate goal of making our nation stronger for the next generation. Congresswoman and chair of the Democratic National Committee, Debbie Wasserman Schultz provides the readers with an enlightening book on current issues and how to resolve them. The book is straightforward and you get enough of Wasserman's engaging personality to keep it from becoming a strictly political talking-points book. This informational 320-page book includes the following fourteen chapters: 1. Strengthening the Economy (So Our Children Don't Have To), 2. Safety Nets, Built to Last, 3. Health Care: A Right Worth Fighting For, 4. A Superpower for Peace, 5. We Know the Drill, 6. Infrastructure Powers Economic Growth, 7. Kids Learn Best When Parents Teach First, 8. Keeping Kids Healthy and Safe, 9. Putting the Fight Back in Women's Rights, 10. America's Promise to Immigrants, 11. Civil Rights: A March Without End, 12. Aiming for Sensible Policy on Guns, 13. Discourse, Not Discord, and 14. To Belong to Something.
