The 90s upto 2000 were really optimistic times for the future. Everyone thought technology would advance quickly and so help mankind advance and so elevate everyone. Then the US had to gently caress it up by declaring forever wars, going full racist, and denying reality.

Actually, I remember the "End of History" 90s more like this... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tnl-51cSYg&t=9s The supreme court ruling for the 2000 election was simply confirmation that Dickian alternate universes exist, and that we'd spent 25 years maneuvering ourselves into one. Not much in the political sphere has surprised me since that moment, though I was young and naive and it took years for me to understand the lasting implications of the Clinton legacy, not to mention what that shitheel bastard represented while in office.

So I've been mainlining this thread, a bunch of other politics threads, news websites, and vodka. I have come to the conclusion that the only sane thing to do in the coming years will be to eventually take my own life, and I need to put plans in motion so as to leave as little as possible for my friends and family to manage. Can someone suggest a painless and inexpensive way out? Thanks in advance, fellas.

Carbon monoxide is a pretty good method; you just go to sleep and your corpse is nice and rosy. Cars aren’t the go-to they used to be because of pollution controls; the most effective way nowadays is a small, well-sealed area with a couple charcoal grills going. They’re huge emitters of CO and you can pick ‘em up cheap and not arouse suspicion. Make sure you do a test run with a good CO meter; you should get a reading of at least 2000ppm to ensure a quick death. Google ‘death by hibachi’ for more details. I think the DIY guillotine method is not often enough explored. You get to relax with a nice DIY project and reflect on life and your death is quick, painless and relatively clean.

That hotline is for people who are suffering through an emotional crisis, people in dire need of someone to talk to, to listen and to care. I work at a call center, and I know how tight the bottleneck can be, and how just a few more minutes' wait could be the difference between life or death for someone in need. I will not steal that time from someone who truly needs them -- I take too much already. I don't have a gun in my mouth, my oven is electric as is my razor, and I can barely tie my shoes properly, much less a noose. I am in no immediate danger. And unfortunately, no, there is nobody who can help. The world is decaying. Men and women and children die of preventable diseases and treatable injuries because they can't afford healthcare even though the a reasonable tax hike on one percect of one percent of the wealthiest people in the nation would pay for basic medical care for every man, woman, and child in the nation. Jobs do not offer living wages and people have to turn to government aid just to make ends meet -- I was one of those people for too long, and it hurt to realize that by paying for my food stamps despite working full-time the gover ment was essentially subsidizing my employers. I felt ashamed, I felt lower than dirt, and the only reason I didn't set up an exit then was because it would leave an undue burden on those left behind. Now I make better wages in a nicer environment telling people how the government has decided it would be cheaper to let them die, because it might inconvenience a billionaire if a poor veteran was allowed to live. And I have to smile while I do it. So I smile, and go home and drink, and make exit plans, because that is the only sane, moral choice left.
