I presume "You run into someone off by their lonesome while you're playing Tracer and you enjoy cackling into the void like a supervillain" is a valid reason?

You could probably win with her on main tank but a traditional comp would have a solo laner (like Yrel), main tank, two assassins and a healer. What heros would you consider a main tank, and where to heroes like Tyrael and ETC fit in? They can't absorb tons of damage on their own, nor do they have particularly good waveclear.

Heroes with both good sustain and lockdown make for good main tanks. Diablo, Muradin, Johanna, Garrosh. ETC can work but he is a bit squishy, if you don't get a kill immediately he has a tough time surviving when focused in a teamfight. Tyrael doesn't work for much of the same reasons Yrel doesn't.

Pointless team fights, pointless defenses (instead of backing out and not dying), and pointless camps are probably the cause for most losses under Diamond. So many times I see a lane getting pushed by the enemy, only for 2 or 3 teammates to be circle jerking a siege camp that ends up getting killed instantly anyway. Good poo poo guys. Also supports solo laning or the lone Kharazim doing camps by himself.

Azmodunk was my favorite and most played hero. But his rework really turns me off to his play now. + Demon talents and burning baseline + Three flavors of ways to enhance dunking + Laser is great now - What the gently caress did they do to Tides of Sin. I do less damage than before and on only one skill. - Either change the dunk zone warning on my dunk shot back to it was before it make it appear later when making long range shots.

People usually switch once their health starts dripping away. Grabbin camps as whoever is fine I think as long as all the lanes are getting soaked. I get fairly consistently flamed when I grab camps as Genji though, people just really hate that. Only specialist like me, Sylvanus can get camps!

We ended up with Lili though so it all worked out. appropriatemetaphor posted:If I'm like Rhaegar or something and no one will soak I just go do it. tanks do three things: 1) be hard to kill. This is a no brainer and there are no really squishy tanks, but it’s one reason why the meta ebbs and flows as tank HP and armor is buffed and nerfed. As an example, Johanna has an on-demand shield and Unstoppable and a blind to help keep her alive. Garrosh gains armor, has a self-heal and can make himself Unstoppable to escape. 2) set up kills for their team. This requires a strong engage and some lockdown. The weakest kind of lockdown is a slow, stuns are better, displacement is best of all. Johanna has a slow to stop enemies escaping, a stun that also pulls them in to their doom, and her ult is an aoe stun. Garrosh can stun enemies and throw them into his team to kill. 3) protect their squishies from being killed. This is “peel”. Johanna can blind AAers that are diving her back line and has two different aoe stuns to allow her fragile teammates to escape. Garrosh can stun enemies, throw his teammates to safety, and can force the enemy to attack him instead. if you are not good at all three things you are not a good main tank. Dehaka, for instance, has a self-heal, but his only defensive technique takes him out of the fight and renders him unable to do the other two things. He can lock someone down to set up a kill with his drag and his aoe reduces armor after level 13, but he can’t really peel and his only engage is to walk into the enemy. He works well as a second tank alongside a main tank as he can focus on setting up kills, letting the main tank engage and disrupt.

Someone in this thread was like "Your Probius sits in lane all day, THEIR Probius has always set up a deathtrap at the point before it becomes available" and I was like, poo poo, yeah, I'm gonna be enemy Probius! I usually take the slow barrier, but on the "set up on the point" plan the extra lasers are key, and man, I've been crushing! I used to think he was kinda poor, but I've really come around to him now! Thanks goons!

Hmm, my plan of just playing Johanna in HL has fallen apart when the whole team couldn't stop feeding. Also no one joined voice and only spoke up to say "I hate this" "gg" and "sorry I suck at video games". And people like sat in base going afk at random. Like what is this why do i have the most soak. Gold is as poo poo as Silver!

We are living in a timeline where James "Jimmy" Raynor is a strong contender for best Solo Laner in the game. That said I'm not sure if he's broken or just that easy to play well.

Oh Jesus Christ, the enemy first pick (and their banner) banned Johanna and Li Li, then picked Raynor. What a time to be alive. Edit: oh thank god, it got dodged. Teammates were showing Tassadar and Illidan, and we'd already picked Muradin and Zul'jin.

Figured I'd get a QM in to see if I could get a quick level on Zarya for the box but nope, I am put against a 4 stack with Tyrande vs no heals and a 0 kill Chromie that can't hit poo poo as the cherry on top. Tyrande, Raynor, Li Ming, Blaze and Azmo vs Zarya, Chen, Varian, Chromie, and Kel Thuzad. That's a character with a heal basic, 2 characters with built in self healing, and all around good laning and range vs my team. Nice. Blizzard really wants me to not play their game. I mean they sure as hell convinced me to not buy a stimpack. Or spend any money really.

It feels much more confused than other maps, and I'm totally unable to figure out my already poor positioning especially around the prison camps just because there are so many different places bad guys can come from and flee to. I don't dislike the map in principle, but every game on it has been a mess. You still get bullshit in UD, but way, way less of it, and you're generally able to play the hero you want or at least one close to it, and actually play a proper game instead of the chickens with their heads cut off and ridiculous comps in QM. I swear, when I play a tank there are no healers and when I play a support there are no tanks. It's maddening. I actually gave up with Xul and finished getting him to 5 in AI just because I can't figure out how to play him and don't like his abilities or trait. I think too much QM was part of why I stopped playing years ago (no UD back then and I know I'm not good enough for ranked)

AP feels like the complete opposite of Cursed Hollow. In CH, your objective is minimal, so knowing how to poke, split push, rotate, and merc properly are all key to the map. It's even possible to give up an objective to catch back up if you need to. In AP, the objective is everything, so when it starts everything else is disregarded for the objective. Even if you're behind, you have to try fighting over it. Nothing else matters.

I like Lorenado if there's no big burst to set up. Using it to push enemies into your root for either engaging or escaping is pretty handy. Plus it's sorta idiot-proof, like so many times I've Stay Awhiled most of the enemy team only for them all to be woken up by auto-attacks and just walk off. Or I blunder and get hit during the channel.

After each QM game, add the chill allies to your friends list and queue up. Randos who've proven themselves friendly at least once are a great improvement over rando randos. Annoying if you're close to the 200 friend limit, but if you're not then go hog wild.
