hillary 2016: Make Websites Great Again

galenanorth
May 19, 2016

She stood for things like a 3 year moratorium on student loans for entrepreneurs, when most people aren't looking to take out new loans to start a business after having student loans. Here are the requirements for starting up a fast food franchise as an example of a business qualifying for SBA loans: $20,000 to $35,000 on average, although the most major chains require applicants to have $750,000 in liquid assets. The problem is that when a policy is both ineffective and boring enough, it is like it turns off people's object permanency because it is not worth remembering for more than a few minutes.

so.... people were supposed to ask hillary what her policies were? it's no longer the job of a politician running for office to tell people why they should be elected? what does running for office look like in the liberal brain? cause so far it sounds like a candidate for poltiical office should just be able to sit home in their pajamas and do jack poo poo, and it's our job to figure out why we should pick this person for the most powerful position in the US

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/elections/sanders-wing-party-terrifies-moderate-dems-here-s-how-they-n893381

quote:

If Bernie Sanders is leading a leftist political revolt, then a summit here of moderate Democrats might be the start of a counterrevolution.

While the energy and momentum is with progressives these days — the victory of rising star Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in New York, buzz about Democratic Socialism and the spread of the "Abolish Ice!" movement are a few recent examples — moderates are warning that ignoring them will lead the party to disaster in the midterm elections and the 2020 presidential contest.

That anxiety has largely been kept to a whisper among the party's moderates and big donors, with some of the major fundraisers pressing operatives on what can be done to stop the Vermonter if he runs for the White House again.

But the first-ever "Opportunity 2020" convention, organized here last week by Third Way, a moderate Democratic think tank, gave middle-of-the-road party members a safe space to come together and voice their concerns.

quote:

The invitation-only gathering brought together about 250 Democratic insiders from key swing states. Third Way unveiled the results of focus groups and polling that it says shows Americans are more receptive to an economic message built on "opportunity" rather than the left's message about inequality.

"Once again, the time has come to mend, but not end, capitalism for a new era," said Third Way President Jon Cowan.

For the left, Third Way represents the Wall Street-wing of the party and everything wrong with the donor-driven wet blanketism they've been trying exorcise since 2016. Thom Hartmann, a liberal talk radio host and Sanders friend, once called the group's warning about Sanders "probably the most stupid thing I've ever heard," before ticking through all the investment bankers on Third Way's board.

But some elected officials in relatively conservative areas say progressives are clueless about what their agenda would mean for Democrats outside major cities and the coasts.

"We will be a permanent minority party in this country," said Iowa state Sen. Jeff Danielson, a firefighter who represents an area that saw one of the biggest swings from Barack Obama to Trump during the 2016 election.

oh wait, i forgot that one of hillary's favorite answers to questions about what she'd do in office was "elect me and find out"

so i guess we're not even supposed to try to determine what a candidate's policies are before we vote for them. how is it that centrists lament the lack of intelligence of the voting populace while at the same time demanding people completely shut down their brains and pull the lever for the D candidate?

Remember the story how her staff was stumped for months trying to create a narrative and reason for why she was running?

Hillary's "look at my website" gimmick was just a more poorly implemented version of Trump's surrogates going out and saying whatever the hell sounded best to people they spoke with. Hillary's campaign wanted people to log on and find one or two issues to agree with and win them over, which required effort and interest from voters.

Meanwhile Trump's people were going out and spoonfeeding promises and positions (regardless of whether Trump actually agreed) to audiences that deeply care about those particular issues. No real effort required from voters and people got to hear what they wanted to hear.

They're complicated in part because if they said what they really wanted it would scare people away. So they word them as "we will not completely gently caress the first 150 metric tons of body weight of humans who apply with form 38ws-b"

quote:

Where else can you catch Passion Pit, Common, Young the Giant, Hillary Clinton, and Tom Perez in the same general vicinity?

It was an ordinary day on Twitter, which is to say the worst day on Twitter since the day before. A low-key cursed image began making the rounds, eliciting no small amount of sincere confusion. This image was putting the free world on notice. A revolution was coming in the form of a two-day festival in Central Park called OZY Fest. Maybe you saw it and the subsequent and relentless owns and sick burns it spawned, gleefully doled out by people simply seeking to understand what the gently caress they were looking at. Imagine a cut-rate Coachella lineup poster headlined by a few heavy-hitters of the outdoor all-ages summertime circuit, acts like Passion Pit, Young the Giant, Grouplove, Common, and record-scratch freeze-frame Hi, you’re probably wondering how I got here Hillary Clinton!

But that’s not all! Also waiting in the wings: Malcolm Gladwell, the baseball man A-Rod, the fatwa’d Salman Rushdie, Martha Stewart, Jemele Hill twice, your Twitter pal Taye Diggs, conservative Burning Man fanatic Grover Norquist, and a conservative fanatic who should be a burning man, Karl Rove. Karl Rove! You know, one of the most morally reprehensible bipeds on planet Earth, getting paid actual money to mumble his garbage for a bit before nodding his big stupid head to the seductive summer anthems of Young the Giant.

In short, the poster promised a weird hot Dada mess of Hillary’s Shadow Government throwing a party at the park. How could this not just be some extremely gentle ribbing perpetuated by one of those Weird Left Twitter rascals, having a go at #TheResistance libs and their not-so-secret desire to make any public event into a TED Talk entitled “Hey! I’m Being Civil Here!”
