Maybe the reason "new money" rich people can't stand the idea of people living in poverty being brought up to the poverty line is that they have a gnawing suspicion that beyond a certain level, all possessions are ultimately fleeting and meaningless. If they're about as well-off as someone with their health and a roof over their head despite having undertaken a lot more education and skills training early in life, give or take a mansion of square footage, then, they can't let that go without doing anything. It wouldn't matter if the world had enough money for a million dollars for everyone across the globe every year. They'd have to use their donor money to make sure healthcare the impoverished can't pay for doesn't get to them so that the gnawing will stop, because they have to be better than somebody by being better off in the ways that matter most.

He has said that there wasn't evidence of various things (aside from things unlikely to have had a major impact, like the internet troll bots), but I don't think he's ever flat-out denied Russia could have colluded with Trump, or that he would be surprised if they did. I remember a while back joepinetree posted about this (maybe in the Russia D&D thread, it was a while back), and he quoted Greenwald himself on this, and I remember his opinions were not exactly wrong.
