I'm somewhat new to this whole QAnon thing, and have only started to delve into it a bit because it appears I might actually be acquainted with a couple of people who buy into it, so I apologize if this has been discussed already. But are there any hints or clues as to who "Q" actually is? I'm seriously having a hard time imaging it to be anything other than some random dude loving with people on the internet who never really could have foreseen or intended it to become the phenomenon that it's grown into. And what happens when one or more of Q's adherents takes a few lives for their cause? Could whomever is leading these people on face actual legal consequences?

The idea so far is either it’s one of three things: A) A person with too much on their hands who knows they’re bullshitting but loves having all these idiots hanging on to their every word. There are a few clear shifts not just in tone but in content over time, and some of those shifts have happened after unexplained breaks in the posting schedule. Q only posts on the chans, and does not use a secure tripcode. It would be simple for anyone to impersonate him. This opinion piece was posted on a Q-mocking subreddit yesterday. It draws comparisons between the way the qult operates and the way disappointed fandoms search for answers - by creating a shared narrative that lets the group redirect their disappointment. I think it's likely that Q isn't just shitposting, but is instead a true believer. Additionally they either akready knew how to manipulate their target audience, or they've figured it out for themselves. Things are about to get a lot more interesting.
