There's no way it's Clinton but I could see a push to get behind Biden like that. I'm just hoping that he's as successful with Biden in the primary as he was with Clinton in 2016 general.

This is endorsements period. Not "primary endorsements" or "general endorsements", but rather "this is Obama's pick and he wants them to win office this November".

As for the logic behind the decision-making, well, I'll give you a hint: most of his House picks are members of the DCCC's Red to Blue program that singles out conservative-leaning Dems for extra support. All of his House picks in IL, NJ, NV, and NY are members of the Red to Blue list, for instance, and in the other states most of his House picks are on the list. For example, all but one of his CA House picks are on the Red to Blue list, and the same is true for his selections in PA, OH, and TX.

In other words, out of his total of 22 House endorsements, 17 of them are on the Red to Blue list of nationally-endorsed conservative Dems.

Yeah we are basically trading the Third Way Clintons for Obama who wants to pretend nothing is wrong and being a 90's Republican is the way to go as the country descends into fascism.

Beto just hired a consultant who lost 6 races, 2 of which were "gimmes" according to my source.

Source also says Beto listens to a lot of the DCCC types when it comes to messaging and campaigning.

Source also says he's got zero chance of winning since his only path to victory is activating a bunch of young and first-time voters and DCCC tripe is guaranteed to do exactly the opposite.

At this point I suspect Beto has probably moved the needle as much as it can be moved by his own efforts anyway. At this point he wins or loses based on whether it's a Dem wave or not nationally.

Yeah the odds this year are about as good as they could be for a Dem in Texas and he's still quite unlikely to win.

And wether Beto wins or loses, it will have very little to do with hiring some specific consultant or not.

I don't think he's going to win, but I also think his campaign thus far is different than your typical Democratic senator campaign in Texas. The visiting all 254 counties gimmick has bought a lot of earned media and he's to the left of pretty much all the recent Democratic nominees for senator in Texas.

At this point I'm not sure there's a point to taking back the Senate since Schumer seems bent on helping Trump as much as he can in the spirit of decorum. Is a Democratic Senate going to be that much different if McConnel is still there to cry and say things are unfair until the Democrats give him what he wants?

The conspiracy theorist in me thinks maybe Schumer doesn't mind conservative judges that will block any good legislation that might eventually occur giving him cover when better health care or social justice gets blocked by our dictatorial courts.

I'm as :matters: as anyone else in this thread, but that is absolutely not the opinion of knowledgeable observers. The judge admonished the prosecution a few times, but the judge is known for being harsh. The case against Manafort is pretty solid, plus there's another trial in (I think) September.

Personally, I think the concerning thing is Manafort didn't flip. I have no idea of it's still possible for him to flip during this current trial, which is only gonna last through next week. Although I completely believe Congress will never impeach Trump, even with the biggest blue wave, I'd still rather see more irrefutable evidence against Trump in Muller's final report than Manafort in prison.

Theoretically possible but extraordinarily improbable. Prosecutors generally take the position that once you've gone to trial, you rolled the dice, you took your chances, and your job is now to be an example to everyone else of why they should take deals rather than go to trial.

My guess is that Manafort is more scared of a polonium milkshake than he is of anything Mueller could threaten him with.

Not at all. I just can't be bothered with Russiagate anymore. It's all meaningless incomprehensible sportsball for DC lanyards to me at this point. I really don't care if we prove that these lazy, stupid, greedy assholes were in fact, too stupid or lazy to do corruption legally and were bought by the wrong rich people. It was last year when Nina Turner said that the average person doesn’t care about Russian interference. That might’ve changed but it aligned with what I experience anecdotally. The whole investigation isn’t at the forefront of my mind and I haven’t really heard others talking about it except extremely online people. People have more immediate concerns.

Which brings me to the annoyance I have with liberals today. They’re too focused on being armchair political consultants and get way too far into policy. They don’t want to sell ideas that resonate with the electorate and too dependent on the blue wave. They say that once Dems get back into power, then we can fix things, but they’re not offering a plan to the electorate on how they would do that besides not being Trump.
