The Dem primaries were always a difficult step due to institutional opposition and entrenched interests. It was always going to be a long process and I don't think anyone is convinced that only partial success in the early stages means the movement is doomed to failure unless they really wanted to believe it.

All the progressive/leftist organizers I know in MI are in a pretty deep state of shock, the results were just extremely bad considering Bernie's success in 2016. Abdul didn't win a single county.

I don't think anyone feels that it is "doomed to failure" but this was a pretty important moment to push back against the establishment machine and they're going to entrench now that progressives aren't a serious threat

Also the establishment is already entrenched. It's strange how people act like there's a fight over a vacuum and the centrists just stumbled into a political machine. There isn't. The progressives are trying to make gains in areas held by other parties and is entirely on the offensive. If the progressives win even one seat it's a win, Because every win gives them more legitimacy and every loss is just the status quo, which in this environment defaults to being under attack, which is just another opportunity.

it was basically the kind of result you might have expected of Ocasio-Cortez versus Crowley, and it's going to be insufferable if it happens to Nixon and people start bleating about how "Bernie's moment has passed" or whatever the gently caress
