One Road. Two Friends. One Ass.
What's the best franchise mode in a sports game for the ps4? I know NBA 2k18 had a great one but I'm waiting on that since the new one is coming out in a couple of weeks. But I want something now.

I wish I could give you mine I already used because i'm definitely not spending any more time with it lol. If it helps I just got mine by preordering a physical copy from Amazon and then cancelling as soon as I got the code email, they don't charge your card for preorders until they ship

It looks like BLOPS4 preorders are unavailable on Amazon Canada just like all the other AAA preorder games this year. What's up with that?

BF4 for 8.99 and Titanfall 2 for 5.99 right now in the store, both premium editions or whatever with all the add ons. I'm sure the player base for both is mostly grizzled veterans with perfect aim and eyes in the backs of their heads at this point, but those games are still worth way more than that.

Honestly there are still a lot of scrubs on BF4, probably in large part because it's gone on sale for dirt cheap so often this year. But also yeah, a lot of looooooooong-time vets.

But fwiw I started playing it at the beginning of the year after not having played an FPS since like Halo and I've managed to get good enough to where I'm probably just a little below that elite tier (will probably never catch up, some people have like 5000 hours logged).

Titanfall 2 is a very well designed game in that you will still have a good time even of you are bad at it. Plenty of ways to get points via killing AI enemies etc. And honestly there's still a ton of bad players on it you'll be fine. it's an all around fun game for everyone at every skill level.

Is Titanfall worth picking up without PS+? It sounds like 90% of the game is the multiplayer.
Same question for Star Wars Battlefront 1. And do either of them have local multiplayer?

I'd be interested in hearing more about this. I agree that Just Cause 2 was a better experience overall, but I also really liked Just Cause 3 and think that they did a lot of good as well as gently caress a few things up.

The wingsuit is amazing, and I hope that you'll agree. I think that it strikes a great balance between ease of use, fun and skill ceiling, and is a great addition to the series. The tether is also a great feature. I know it was modded in the PC version of JC2, but for console plebs, this is the first time that you can tie a cow to a car, then that car to a plane. The infinite remote mines (with rocket boosters!) I think are also a neat idea that maybe could have been implemented a bit better, but overall was a positive change. I also like the map better in JC3, but not by any huge margin.

There definitely are some flaws (some mission types are bullshit, the upgrade system is kind of odd, in a bad way, (non-DLC) vehicles are almost all useless, the final boss....), but the only thing that they really would have to fix, in my opinion, are the performance (and performance-adjacent, like the leaderboard-related endless loading times) issues.

I think it'd be pretty easy to fix the main issues from JC3, so I'm pretty hopeful about 4. But maybe I'm just a sucker for that kind of game; I did put in like 200 hours in Mercenaries 2.

And man do I love that song in the trailer...

Good lord, no. The wingsuit in JC3 is one of the worst changes, especially because they heavily nerfed grapplechuting in order to force you to use it. The nonsensical nerfs in general are one of my biggest problems with the game, including the fact that you can no longer pull soldiers toward you and the fact that the melee whip attack was replaced by an elbow strike that has zero range and damage. Enemies take WAY too many shots to kill and there are far fewer opportunities for creative kills.

Nearly all of the main missions are now annoying escort missions where your escortees are fragile as hell. I can't think of a single main mission that didn't take me multiple tries to complete mainly because of my escortee dying. At no point did I have any fun with the main campaign.

Chaos is now a completely meaningless number that isn't tied to anything and can just be ignored.

But the absolute worst thing is the time balance. In 2, you spend nearly 100% of the time just running around blowing poo poo up and kicking rear end in general. In 3, you spend 40% of the time doing fun poo poo and 60% of the time doing obnoxious challenges. If you ignore the challenges then you'll just spend the entire game heavily gimped. None of the challenges are any fun, they require near perfection, and way too many of them are races. If I wanted to race, I would have bought a racing game.

I've never seen a series take such a huge step backward like this.

God of War: I finished Alfheim and it was very...underwhelming?It was all "Dark Elf", "Heavy Dark Elf", "Dark Elf Summoner" and then the ending is just "Dark Elf King" :geno: . Also, they tried to make a "Are we the baddies?" angle but I feel it didn't really work because there was no other option for us to get the Light back.

Moving over, I went into the mountain as deep as killing the dragon - gently caress if I'm going to remember its name - and unless they're aiming on a really big misdirection, I figure Faye was a Giantess. A specific Ice weapon, not really giant sized so not distinguishable by Kratos, Atreus saw the translucent gate to Jotunheim and can read and understand ancient runes and language. It would also give a more obvious reason for the Aesir to be after him, as the Ice Giants are supposed to be all dead or "missing".

The boss fights so far seem like a low point of the game. Not the Trolls or the Ogres, those are actually fun now that the BOI is a stunning machine along with my dodging and punching, but the actual bosses just seem very...lackluster. Not that the original series was a breakthrough in that department but I figured they'd make something a bit more thrilling?

I'll still probably give jc4 a try after waiting for reviews and when it goes on sale.

I spent ten hours in jc3 alone probably blowing up trains, bridges, and then trains on bridges. Worth it to me for that alone.

Alfheim is the weakest part of the game, gameplay wise imo. But the game in general could use more enemy variety. I found just about every other location cooler than Alfeim though.
