I don't really think your drunk self is your secret personality revealed, but that said if you know you get physically and/or verbally abusive when drunk you should either stop drinking or accept responsibility for your future drunk actions. If it was legit the only time he's acted like this it should be a wake-up call, but he seems to be doubling down while sober so he's probably just terrible.

I missed the part where he pushed first. So it sounds like she accidentally bumped into him at which point he became abusive and then decided to push her which is assault, and she hit back in self defense after he called her a spear-chucking porchmonkey. That about right?

He yelled at 1st woman (who was probably African-American) and then got knocked out by her friend (who I think he said wasn't, and thus shouldn't have been offended by his racism). Given the 2nd woman was defending her friend it probably wouldn't even be assault ignoring the racist piece too.

Doing more research I have found out that this woman in highly active in protests and events in Nevada especially for things that are "racial." This is why I think the lawyer won't help me.

This is my favourite part, where he blames the lawyer's advice on a "racial" conspiracy rather than on the fact that he assaulted someone in a hate crime

it could possibly be but this is well under the threshold of cops giving a poo poo and the more this guy tries to rules lawyer his way out of a drunken racist yelling match turning into him getting KO'd by a woman, well, it wont turn out the way he wants it to. i mean the guy took the video to the police who encouraged him not to take it any farther

So, I called the non-emergency police and I showed the officers the video, and showed them her name. They "recommended" to me that I consider not proceed with charges on this, especially since I am seen yelling racial slurs, and I have a visible public position. Spouse is threatening to report me for pornography collection
Edit: my location is TX if that makes any difference

This is going to be a long story but I am hoping for some objective legal advice without moral judgement.

For some background, my wife and I have been together for around 3 years. For the past year or so, our relationship has been pretty rocky to say the least. She has cheated on me multiple times and have essentially been like platonic roommates for the past three months. She has been absolutely terrible this entire time, trashing my belongings and starting screaming fights for not "addressing her needs". It's gotten to the point where I had to install a lock on my bedroom to stop her from getting in there.

About a week ago, I finally contacted a family lawyer and discussed filing for divorce. When I told my wife about it I expected another fight but she started crying and agreed it was for the best.

When I got off the other day, my wife was home early and the lock for my door was smashed open. I ran into my room and asked her what the gently caress she was doing and then I saw she had my pornography folder open on my computer and was holding my shotacon DVDs.

For reference, I have a rather large collection of shotacon and lolicon on my laptop and a few DVDs and manga. They were ALL purchased legally in the US (except for my laptop content, but it was downloaded on public websites) and I've never been aware of this causing any legal issues or else the websites would have been taken down.

She immediately started screaming at me about how she knew I was a sick gently caress, they're children, this is illegal, you name it. I didn't know what to do, she had a flash drive with everything on it already and I didn't want to take it from her because she might claim I assaulted her.

I've never heard of movies like this being illegal in the US, but if she explicitly reports it could I be in legal trouble? I know that the US does have some fairly vague obscenity laws that might apply, but I'm not sure.

Can I do anything about her breaking into my room? Even though we're married/cohabitating? Would the flash drive be admissible evidence even though she broke in and guessed my password to obtain it? What should be my next course of action?

Don't be shocked if this comes up as a major issue in your divorce and the reason for the lack of sex in your marriage. What woman would want to have sex with a man who pleasures himself looking at cartoon children?

Literally what conservative racists are alarmed about : they feel they have only recently lost their freedoms to act like this in public without repercussions either personally or professionally. From their perspective this rear end in a top hat saw an opportunity to play ‘big strong protector’ by defending his gf from the tyranny of accidentally spilled drinks, and the cognitive dissonance when poo poo doesn’t happen that way is insurmountable to their tiny conservative lizard brains.

You only get comped for client dinners, and just showing up and getting your clients incredibly drunk a couple times a year was more of an 80's/90's client relations thing.

Every account exec I know has a few of those clients and I've spoken to all of them drunk during the day at least once during a meeting but it's not so common any more.

After today's double whammy of legal advice, I needed it straight in my veins.

quote:

I screwed up and I'm about to lose everything [NY]

I know I'm a dumbass so please reserve your moral judgements.

My wife just found out that I have been having an affair and I assume she will soon be filing for divorce. We have a prenup with an infidelity clause that leaves the cheating party with next to nothing. I'd walk away with enough to survive but I'd have to put in a lot of effort to get back to where I was financially. At this point, I'm trying to come up with strategies to prevent her from taking everything from me.

1 - I have working through our whole marriage, she stopped working when our first kid was born 4 years ago. She has made no financial contributions since then. Can I use this fact to claim money from accounts that were filled with my paychecks? Can I drain any accounts before she files as long as I leave her enough to live?

2 - Can she come after me for money I spent on my girlfriend?

3 - I'm sure she will get primary custody of our kids, especially our youngest who is still breastfeeding. Since she will get almost all of our assets, can I use this to negotiate low or no child support? She definitely wouldn't need more than what she would have, especially if she went back to work.

Are there any other ways I can prevent being sucked dry?

quote:

Please don't judge. You never know how a marriage will turn out and when I had the prenup written, I assumed if one of us cheated it would be her.

quote:

Can I pay for an attorney with our joint funds? Will the costs cut into her share of the assets or mine?

quote:

So I have to pay for both lawyers too? I'll end up in debt at the end of this.

quote:

So if I bought my girlfriend a car, would the court take the car back or give my wife the value of the car? The car could have cost more than I expect to win in the divorce. Am I going to walk away in the negatives?

My mother gave my sister $20,000 for her anemia stem cell treatments, and I want it deducted from her inheritance

quote:

I live in California and I am the executor of my mother’s will. She is 82 and still working part-time designing and planting gardens. My sister told my mother last month that she needed $20,000 for stem-cell treatments for sickle cell anemia, a medical condition we all were unaware of.

Responding to my sister’s hysterical call, my mother closed a bank account and mailed my sister a check for the full amount, which is nearly 20% of my mother’s life savings. Needless to say, I’m furious, as this seems like a dubious request for money.

There is no paper trail, only a verbal agreement for my sister to pay back my mother. I truly believe my sister thinks it will be deducted from whatever she’s entitled to upon my mother’s death. However, with an estate this small, I need the money for my mother’s care and I don’t think there will be any inheritance for anyone.

I want to compose a simple letter to add to my mother’s will that says if the money isn’t repaid, then I have the authority to deduct the full amount from any inheritance my sister is entitled to. And if there are any repayments, it is to my discretion to deduct what I think is fair from her portion.

How can I find a legal document or the verbiage to compose a simple letter that would stand up in court if my sister ever challenges my role/duties as executor?

Alas, this was not in r/relationships, but in MarketWatch, so this is the answer:

quote:

The request for $20,000 may have come as a surprise, but many insurance companies are cautious about covering such treatments. Some insurance companies describe stem-cell treatment (or “hematopoietic cell transplantation”) as “experimental and investigational due to insufficient evidence in the peer-reviewed literature.” That’s another way of saying “no dice.” So it’s possible that if she does have this disease, and let’s assume she does, she had trouble getting this treatment covered by her insurance provider. Your mother was clearly under great pressure to help her out.

That said, I like your solution. As members of the Facebook Group for this column pointed out, there are instructions online for adding a codicil to a will. For an issue concerning $20,000, I would caution against doing it yourself. An elder care or estate attorney would do this for you for a couple of hundred dollars and, given the risk that your sister may dispute this after your mother is gone, it’s worth getting it done properly and reduce any margin for error. I would also be transparent and notify your sister of your decision to avoid any surprises later.

In the meantime, talk to your mother about how this came about and tell her that you understand why she gave your sister this money. But remind her that she can always come to you for help or advice, and caution her against giving any more of her money away, especially given the potential costs of care as she get older. California is one of the most expensive states in the country for both long-term and adult day care. This is all the more reason why you should discuss such unexpected expenses as a family. You may all have to pitch in to help your mother later on.

In the meantime, talk to your sister and ask what you can do to help. And ask to see the receipts.
