Auburn depth chart, few minor surprises. The new Aussie punter hasn't won the job, listed as second-string not even an "OR", but everyone's still kinda expecting him to take the reins eventually (why else bother with an Australian?) Sal Cannella, transferred in last year as a TE, lot of promises about how even though Gus hasn't used a traditional TE in a few years this time was gonna be different and then we never used him, has reportedly overcome some issues with drops and is one of the most improved players and got a first-string WR spot. OL settled as reported last week, DL same but there's expected to be a lot of flexibility and situational use especially at the Buck.

Tulane is retiring Devon Walker's number across all sports.

Devon Walker was paralyzed playing for Tulane in 2012. It was one of the worst things I've ever seen(if not the worst) while watching football. He has been with the school/football program ever since.

I haven't spoken to any Texan who wants to defend El Paso. The Panhandle is dull but Amarillo is like a real town and has seasons. I'll even say driving through it twice recently the windmills are kinda nifty. El Paso is an armpit. It has next to nothing to do in it, the border is gross to look at, and its miserably hot/dry there all the time. Maybe back in the day when it was alright to cross into Mexico it was a better cooler place, but I have been strongly advised don't do that in recent years.

They have some boss Burritos tho at Delicious Mexican Eatery, that's my favorite part of El Paso, but having been there the past 3 years for clinics uhh El Paso is not a cool place.

Waco's biggest attractions are the rape campus and the overpriced HGTV home reno store. That's it. SHIPLAP YOUR WALLS AND GET AN OPEN FLOOR CONCEPT. El Paso is boring and gross to be in, but Waco just needs to finish burning to the ground.

I lived in El Paso for 2 years recently and I'd really beg to disagree. While it isn't the most amazing city ever by any means, it does have a lot to offer. There's a burgeoning food/bar scene there, a ton of outdoorsy stuff to do including lots of hiking, lots of authentic and cheap Mexican restaurants, and a better music scene than you would expect. There's also a lot of very cool stuff within relatively easy driving distance (Carlsbad Caverns, Guadalupe Mountains, Ruidoso, Big Bend isn't too far). It is dry there, but it isn't really any hotter than the rest of the state. Going to Juarez is fine, you just need to be smart, and stick to the tourist stuff unless you're with someone that really knows Juarez.

I don't mean to be an armchair psychologist, but it kind of seems like you went there with a closed mind.

El Paso is the last place within a day trip of Tucson that I haven't been, is there like a really cool museum there or something to take pictures of that I'll enjoy or something?

The Museum of Art is pretty good and surprisingly there is a Holocaust Museum in El Paso which is pretty well regarded. There's also the National Border Patrol Museum which I never went to. There's the Franklin Mountains State Park which has some great trails and some good overlooks of the cities, but theres also a tram which will take you up top.

The Sun Bowl is also pretty dope and I'd recommend checking it out.

I seriously think about this post every time football rolls around gj

JonathonSpectre posted:

I had the most SEC introduction to college football.

My aunt had bought me an FSU t-shirt for my ninth birthday. I didn't know what the gently caress FSU was, but I liked that it had an edged weapon on it and that it was a shade of red, so I wore it pretty much every time it was clean. I was on the safety patrol at my elementary school, and so twice a day I'd be out standing by a road "helping" a coach stop traffic for twenty minutes or so. The first time I wore my FSU shirt to safety patrol, a big dump truck came rolling along. I excitedly made the "blow the horn!" gesture with my arm.

The dude in the truck (long chin beard, rebel flag hat, angry squint) leaned out the window and bawled, "gently caress you! Georgia Bulldogs!" as he drove by.

I didn't know it yet, but that confused feeling I had way back then, the sort of "I just brushed up against something I don't really understand yet but that is strangely fascinating" vibe you get from your first porno or beer or whatever was just my third eye opening for the first time onto a strange, secret world in which wearing a particular pair of colors may sometimes be cause for violence, people kill other people for not being sad or happy enough, depending, and entire states of the Union can descend into apocalyptic misery or the heights of angelic joy based on whether or not someone kicks a ball between two poles from forty yards out.

It's almost here.

Justin Ferguson summed up the punting situation pretty well. Basically the new Aussie guy is probably better but he's also never played a college football game before and is still getting used to the toilet water going in a different direction so Auburn felt it best not to chuck him into a huge stage like what this game will be. The other guy has at least been around a bit and has played on the big stage before so odds are they'll let him punt for the Washington game and then bring Siposs in for the cupcake game next week.

Looking up General Booty's lineage made me feel old. General's father is Abram Booty. I was at Valdosta State at the same time as Abram, who had transferred from LSU. Also learned today that former Texas A&M RB Christine Michael named his son ... Christine Michael Jr.

I've been to Amarillo for work and granted I never had a car there so I couldn't exactly explore but I'd go out on a limb and call it bad.

FOIA releases always remind me of that coach from Rutgers that emailed the professor to try and get a grade changed and actually stated that he wasn't using his university phone so that it wouldn't be subject to an FOIA.
