It probably doesn't help that most people have a mind's-eye image of her that includes a wig.

I think everyone's forgetting how long ago TNG was and how Stewart had a good 25 years of not aging which is throwing off the perception of everyone else. Gates is a drat fine looking 69 year old.

She looks totally fine, just ... different.

She's the only one I wouldn't recognize out of context and even in context I have to really study her face closely. The eyes and tight-lipped smile eventually gave her away.

Oh there you are, I thought.

To be honest I never found her hot because she reminded me of my mom and she's the same age, but now they look nothing at all alike.

Really wasn’t trying to be gross, it genuinely threw me for a while. Although the more I think about it I imagine a large part of that is not really having seen her in anything since TNG. Where as LeVar for example crops up fairly often. You know since we’re on an awkward topic I may as well ask something that’s been on my mind for a while, is Jennifer Lien doing better these days? That situation was genuinely upsetting.

Edit: Well I got curious enough to answer my own question. Seemingly the answer is no :(

I also didn't recognize her right away. I also can't think of anywhere I've seen her since TNG.

Where the hell was Frakes is my question.

McFadden has like a five second cameo at the start of Hunt for Red October. I happened to spot her while flipping channels the other week and it weirded me out

I think I read that she was going to be featured more prominently in that movie, but probably because of her TNG commitments, she only briefly appeared at the beginning.

I got sent down that rabbit hole as well last night. I've been digging back into Voyager for the first time in many years watching episodes I've forgotten about or just never bothered to watch and am surprised just how much I enjoyed a bunch of late season 3 and especially Kes. Before and After specifically blew me away. Got curious if she had been up to anything recently I should check out and :gonk:.

It's nice going back before the Borg were entirely run into the ground and seeing the genuine dread concerning them slowly build up.

Yeah, regardless what came after, I still remember that moment when they find the Borg corpse at the end of a random episode being pretty chilling.

See, when I think of John Schuck I think of the Klingon ambassador, not the dude he played on Enterprise.

Still, nice to see someone remembers that MASH was a movie first and that Odo, Elizabeth Dehner, and... *sigh* THE KLINGON AMBASSADOR were all in it.

Rewatching DS9 i had forgotten how the Dominion just keeps letting Dukat waltz into their HQ and talk to Damar despite him being a potential security risk.

Also post ‘Waltz’ they seem to downplay Dukat having a mental illness/breakdown in favor of him being influenced by the Pah Wraiths
