Maybe you can ask them to change out the magnets for Lazertag targets.

The lil robot dude ended up not looking half as good as that pic, I assume because I didn't do any actual painting like it looks like they've done, I just slapped the stickers on. However, it was really fun to do, like an easter egg surprise but bigger. I'd never done a gundam before and turns out it's real easy, the instructions are a breeze to follow. You can find them on a lot of sellers, I'm not linking the one I bought it from because the packing had NO soft stuff over the box and the box was well smooshed, some bits inside were bent. Just look for one that's got a sale on to score one just above five bucks. Looks like currently there's a bunch here for 5.38 each:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Ani...2733629097.html

The metal 3d puzzle plane though? See those dimensions? I DIDN'T. The smallest bits are 5mm times 2mm. It was difficult, to say the least. You'll notice that even in the model pic, the long narrow bits have gone wonky, haha, you can't avoid that. The instructions are pretty hard to see, a lot of the important "behind" bits are in grey ink and it's often difficult to see where each part is supposed to go. Not to mention that those curvy bits like the body and the wings? You gotta bend 'em yourself. They bend easy though! Especially when you're exerting pressure to bend a tab into place and accidentally bend all the parts you were holding on to. I recommend jeweller's pliers and snips and a microscope loupe (one that attaches on your head) with at least 10x magnification, like this here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/201...2721507116.html
In other words, if you're what we like to call a "comma fucker", you'll love this. I know I did!
The plane was 4.70 here, I've seen them cheaper, but then they charge for postage:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Puz...2832659274.html

I also ordered a car one that's actually turning out a lot easier despite being 3 sheets of parts instead of just the one. I'll let you know how wrong I was when I hit sheet 3 and realize I've bent something wrong 20 steps back.

I got a cool metal 3D puzzle a while back, and managed to gently caress it up in one area because the instructions are unclear on which direction a tab went.

So I ordered it again because it really is very pretty and also cheap. Made a point of doing the part I hosed up in the correct order, looked really close at the directions for that part...still managed to gently caress it up and had already twisted the tabs that held it in place because I had already loving quadruple checked it. It was still fun to work with, though, so I'm not considering it a waste. They also tend to be at least 5 bucks cheaper than the same thing from amazon if you order from Aliexpress. There is also more variety on Aliexpress if you like those kinds of toys.

I also got a wooden puzzle of the Temple of Heaven. Many of the pieces did not fit together correctly. I think, even with modpodge, it kept falling apart so I just said gently caress it.

Just make absolutely sure you have the right back on the case -- I didn't notice the slots in the "open" back before the first test dunk. Luckily I was able to take it apart and put it in front of an aircon vent for a couple of days to dry it out, and it worked again.

Also my father has lately been ordering a bunch of fly-tying supplies from Ali, and has no complaints, though who knows if he's poisoning the trout.

I suspect the answer is probably 'no', but has anyone found any bluetooth in-ear headphones that actually work/don't totally suck? Sound quality is not super important to me since I mostly listen to podcasts, but I want something that might not break down within a month and where the connectivity actually works if I have my phone in my pocket.

Stuff like this https://tinyurl.com/ycgcxb6z and this https://tinyurl.com/y7bnb4tm have good reviews but I am skeptical.

I have an older version of these. Battery lasts around 5 hours, I think. Sound actually isn't too bad. Not great, but decent enough that I don't get annoyed while listening to music.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071D8XDBJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_X4UMBbW7K88Z3

I've gotten a couple of wireless sets from Aliexpress. The sound quality is poo poo, but they work fine for audiobooks. I keep my phone in my pocket. Battery life is not good. These actually have a pretty decent range. I've accidentally left my phone downstairs when using these and gone around the house and upstairs without them losing the connection. The sound quality would not be as bad if the left ear bud did not have a treble hiss. Battery life is around 2 1/2 hours between charges, I think.
I can't find the other set in my order history, but their battery only last, like, an hour. So I probably shouldn't include that.

So I bought a phone case on amazon and I received a convincing but low quality counterfeit. The case was 'shipped from and sold by amazon' and had I not already purchased the same case previously, I would never have known better. Funnily enough, the same counterfeit is available on aliexpress for $3, or about 5% of the amazon price. gently caress amazon, its either ali or brick and mortar for me from now on. It's all the same stuff these days, ali has better prices and better customer service.

what are you doing to your phone to require a $60 case :(

also i recommend using ebay for inexpensive cases in the US. my plastic + 'rubber' $4 one has saved my phone many many many times over, and it's easy to find the same style in a lot of different phone models.

also popsockets (fake and real; my real one didn't work so good but my husband's worked fine so idk) stick pretty well to these cases despite being textured.

i'm having a hard time figuring out what would make a phone case worth $60 unless it's just because of a brand or it's real fuckin fancy

I don't think it's worth $60 in the sense that it costs anywhere near that to manufacture one. To me, it's worth $60 because poo poo happens and a broken phone can cost a lot more than that. For the record, it was a 'lifeproof' brand case that was waterproof and had a built in screen protector. I had one for my last phone and it worked extremely well. I don't care about the brand and if I knew of a similarly protective case out there for less money I would purchase that instead.

The amazon review section is full of people complaining that their phone broke after a single drop. Reading between the lines, these are people who unknowingly received the counterfeit which can be had for much less than $60. I suspect they would still be upset even if they payed $3 on ali.
