Yes I know I can tag the provinces before the war, but being able to reassign and then deal with the diplomatic fallout if you don't give an ally enough territory seems like a much better system. It would also be super annoying if you were trying to take some provinces in a war where you aren't the leader and the AI reassigned them. The current system gives you full volition in both leader and non-leader wars, if you didn't get the provinces you want its totally on you. Plus the current way is more historically accurate

I feel like that'd be giving too much power to the war leader. Imagine in multiplayer the war leader just yoinking all the poo poo you fought for and sieged down yourself. It's one thing to be snubbed in a peace deal, it's another thing entirely to have that poo poo outright jacked from you. Even in single player, you failed to stake your claim beforehand and your allies took that land themselves. Deal with it. It would be nice to have an option to automatically turn over all you take to another tag in the war instead of having to do it province by province, or something to do it to multiple provinces? Or maybe you can ask for control of a province from another tag, but it costs trust with controller and other interested nations in the war? Would be nice to have something to spend trust on besides war after it's all maxed out.

Occupation management for you and your vassals is a pain in the rear end. Especially when you assign forts to your vassals so you don't have to pay for them and then take them back at the end of the war (my vassals love me).

Or can you only upgrade the ones you've got already?

If you're planning on playing a muslim or an indian, then they may be worth it, but otherwise, probably not. Likewise, Rule Britannia is not essential if you're not playing in the British Isles. The main game-wide things you're missing out on from these three expacs are army professionalism (a very inessential feature), and government reforms, which are kinda interesting and allows you to minmax your government more. For a first game after a stint away, maybe just jump in with what you had before first and see if you like the new changes or not.

I found out the hard way that Rajputs and Jains both apply a -100% conversion strength modifier to provinces they hold. That seems a bit weird to me that Rajputs were included in that. The Jains make sense, but the Rajputs were not really a single faith thing.

They require that the province is Hindu. It's to make Muslim rulers have to pick between Amir and Rajputs/Marathas and not just be able to blanket everything Rajputs and then convert them. Other option would have been to have the Rajputs disappear from the province when you convert which would most probably pissed people off more.

Ehhh, I don't think either of these solutions really capture what the Rajputs were, but gently caress it it's a videogame who cares it was very funny when I flipped Sikh and suddenly 65% of my nation was unconvertable. On a balance issue though, the trade off between Rajputs and Amirs is pretty simple with the way estates work now so that might need some tweaking imo. Hint: the answer is Rajputs every time, +5% discipline (with an option of 10%) and the other thing they do is no laughing matter. I think if you are Islamic then your Amirs would have the monarch point button, but honestly, the Rajputs are really good to the point where sub 1 monarch point a month ain't really worth it. It is almost on par in terms of power with the old policies for what it actually does for you. I have yet to test it because I was busy drowning in debt from all my provinces suddenly being wrong faith and unconvertable, but can you give Rajputs to Sikh provinces? Is it that they specifically need to be Hindu, or within the Dharmic religious group? eh; actually its a groogy post so disregard part 2. you made the thing, of course you know it means hindu when you say hindu. Yeah it's Hindu because it's the Rajput caste, and the Sikh faith is against the caste system. So to use the caste(the culture represents the people I guess? India is complicated) you need to have Hindu provinces. Even if there were Sikh Rajputs historically.

Also for anyone who self-seeds their institutions all their institutions in the first year of them spawning like a god gamer who doesn't do this yet and is playing in India (why aren't you playing in India?): Please utilise and leverage your knowledge sharing. It is gross how much money you can make, especially when you sell it to Ming. I never use it much in European games because usually anyone worth selling to already has an institution that is hard to get (looking at you, event triggered printing press progress, ruining my chance to sell to France), but if you do it in India you make so much money. Also it makes it so that your allies are not useless sacks of poo poo in a war. Groogy posted:Yeah it's Hindu because it's the Rajput caste, and the Sikh faith is against the caste system. Having had no choice but to sign away most of their lands, the Ajami diplomats talked among themselves as they prepared to journey home to their nations newly minted capital of Kirmanshah. The Timurids were known to make these types of negotiations as humiliating as possible for the defeated, but this time they had just rushed through the formalities, without as much as a single mention of Timurid fighting prowess or superior cock sizes. And why had they demanded the meeting be conducted at night in a dimly lit, almost dark room? It had been hard to see what was being signed away. And hadn't Shah Rukh been unusually quiet at the negotiation table, almost lifeless? And where had that smell come from? They agreed it had indeed been a strange séance, but thought nothing more of it, what's done is done. As the sun rose they knew it was time to ride home: their time had come!

On the note of rulers dying, I had been meaning to suggest this for a while: It would be really cool if you got an event if you kill an enemy ruler in battle. I dunno how viable or practical that would be to make, but it would make for powerful and funny moments, especially in multiplayer. I don't really care if it gives prestige or a modifier (like a minor morale bonus or something), it is just a funny rub it in their face moment.

Level 3 trade centers are really good, because they give bonuses to every province in their state: -10% development costs and +30% institution spread. This is extremely good in states with lots of farmland, like for example northern India. You can cluster up your institution seeding provinces and have them spread very quickly.

This is an old problem for me, but: what do you do when you bottom out your country? I started as Ethiopia, crushed the nearby rebels, took some provinces off my neighbors, beat the ensuing rebellion, but now I'm massively in debt, short on manpower, and have no army. Obviously it's best not to be in that place, but do you ever hit a point where you kinda have to twiddle your thumbs for a decade or more due to a shortage of manpower and money, and how do you climb out of that?

Everyone else is too small to take you on? That's great, you can wait to annex them. They allied to too many strong powers? You have a couple options. 1.) Identify weak ally/ally without other allies they have, declare on them instead. 2.) Wait until one of their allies fights a long war. This is boring, but guaranteed to work. 3.) Wait until you have favours with your allies, and then hell war hell WAR HELL WAR HELL WAR you can also burn a bunch of mana in your own provinces to grow in the meantime for 2 and 3

If you have a really good monarch, you can get away with debasing your currency and getting rid of the corruption slowly (or not at all). Every 10 corruption is like having 5% less mana generation. Debasing your currency is sometimes a lot better than taking loans, because you aren't forced to pay to root out corruption immediately, which means that you can't fall into a debt spiral that way.
